add new HD for VMs

I have a machine that I am planning on installing proxmox. It has a 256 SSD drive I plan to use for the OS and a 500GB 7200 rpm drive I would like to use for VMs. I am planning on extending LV volume. If anyone has a better suggestion I would greatly appreciate it.

Hi,
I would not extend the VG (which is on an SSD) with an HDD.
For SSD-Space you want things like "Discard/Trim", for HDD not. I think it's better don't mix hdd+ssd-space.

Hi,
depends on your need (VM-images only (lvm), VM-disks + templates + backups (normal linux directory), ...).

BTW. if you have important data (most, esp. private, data are important) use 2 disk in raid-1.

Thanks! My plan is to use the 500GB drive for my VMs and have the VMs connect to my FreeNAS via iSCSI for their data storage.
