Hello,

I have a standalone (well working) proxmox server configured this way :
HP DL
64 GbRam
8VCPU
1 x 146 Gb SAS for OS
4 x 1TB Hdd ZFS storage raidz1
1 x 240 Gb SSD for ZFS LOG & ARC
4 x Gib Network Cards

Now i bought 2 new identical server
Dell
64Gb
8vcpu
1 x120 GB ssd for Proxmox
3 x 1TB WD RED for ceph
4 x Gib Network Cards

Proxmox is version 5.3

------------------------
With the 2 new server i create a cluster (2 nodes now) e configured ceph without problems
The networks are LAN - CEPH - WLAN - RING0
Swithch HP 1920-24 In the middle with vlans
Now, the cluster is running without pools an no VM Loaded

I would like to
  • migrate data from standalone server to ceph(2nodes) cluster
  • Reconfigure the HP the same way the 2 dell
  • Join to Cluster as third node
  • Add OSD to ceph cluster
the questinos are :
  1. Is it possible
  2. Is better to start from 0 and restore data from backup ?

Any suggestions ?
Thanks
Alessio

migrate data from standalone server to ceph(2nodes) cluster
Mount CEPH on all Nodes and Move the Storage. After this move the VM and the migration are done.

You should use the same hardware in every Node.
But I think you will be really unhappy with this CEPH Performance. You should use and dedicated SSD for Journal or use Flash Only as OSD it's the best way to get Performance in a little cluster.
