Hi, is not a strictly Proxmox issue, but:
- at the end, I want to use this system with proxmox, so every suggestion from this forum is more valuable
- that controller is suggested by Proxmox team as very good and well supported
- when I'm in this forum I feel "at home"
so the problem is that if I install proxmox in a sata hd, that is seen as /dev/sdb, when at the end tries to save the boot record in /dev/sda (the raid10, 1TB storage) it gives the error:
"grub-setuop: error embedding is not possible, but is required for cross-disk install"
and if I try to install proxmox in /dev/sda directly, at the beginning gives an error:
pvcrete is successfull, but subsequent vgcreate pve /dev/sda2 returns "a volume group called pve already exists"
I've choose "Initialize priority: Build" and after a while all the RAID lights are off, so I think the initialization is complete and in any case with "Build" option I can use it asap.
I've read about Adaptec controllers being incompatible with UEFI bios, and this intal MB has UEFI, but /dev/sda is recognized by proxmox, so don't know if is the case.)
The bios versions are:
Adaptec BIOS 5.2-0[18252]
Intel MB s5500.86b.01.00.0060 of 09/09/2011
I've tested with proxmox 2.0-rc1 and 1.9, same result.
Any idea?
Update:
I've removed the sata driver, erased all partitions from /dev/sda, and installed proxmox on /dev/sda without troubles.
Now I've updated the adaptec controller firmware and will investigate again the issue.
Btw, if the proxmox installation fails, the message is "Press Alt + F2 to see details", but does nothing, to go to the message console you have to press Ctrl + Alt + F2 (also a 1.9 "bug")
