Can anyone tell me how to turn off case sensitivity for logon names when using AD credentials sync'ed from the D.C.
We have a lack of consistancy with usernames coming accross and it causes some confusion for end users.
We've knocked up a few temporary windows desktop VM's for remote access for WFH users during covid lockdown.

Currently, you cannot really do that, I'm afraid.
But it really seems like it'd make sense to allow one to disable case sensitivity for a realm, after all most LDAP implementations threat DNs as case-insensitive ( https://ldapwiki.com/wiki/Distinguished Name Case Sensitivity ).

We may want to have an opt-in option for a realm to enable case-insensitive comparison of a user id. Can you please open an enhancement request over at: https://bugzilla.proxmox.com/

@t.lamprecht - necroing this thread, just found this and https://bugzilla.proxmox.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2947

Could documentation please be improved?
I can not find "sensitive" on the current documentation: https://pve.proxmox.com/pve-docs/chapter-pveum.html
Which is the page that opens when you click the "? Help" in the GUI while creating/editing the realm, where i was looking for case sensitivity. Not finding it there quickly leads one to think it simply not possible.

Searching for --case-sensitive hits https://pve.proxmox.com/pve-docs/pve-admin-guide.html (but again, it should be mentioned in the "chapter-pveum.html, right?"

Adding this option to the GUI would be very much welcome, too!
In fact, i think this is a very important setting for everyone using Active Directory, so it should absolutely be in the GUI and not hidden on the CLI ;-)

Done https://git.proxmox.com/?p=pve-docs.git;a=commitdiff;h=ff62dafe023f97caff1365f4e3c7b8e4152aaf30

Yeah, makes sense, done here:
https://git.proxmox.com/?p=pve-manager.git;a=commitdiff;h=c34c541820636a2f8a8d76e7bab319f1fbefc085

Both still only in git, so you'll only get that once we bump a new version (every few weeks depending on the amount and/or types of change).
