Hi everyone,

I am new to Proxmox and looking for a little networking help.

So I have an openvpn container running as a gateway which has a public IP. Currently I route all my Internet traffic from my devices through the gateway for privacy/security reasons.

Now I also want to be able to run some containers on a private network via the VPN.

So currently my VPN assigns me a 10.209.26.* IP address when I connect my client, and I would like to run more containers in the same private network as follows:

gitlab server
node server(s)
intranet

I don't want any of these servers to have a public IP but I do want them all in the same address space as the vpn clients. I have zero idea how to setup the networking in Proxmox to do this and would appreciate some pointers.

Also I am not sure if maybe it would better to install openvpn directly onto the Proxmox host rather than running it in its own container?

Ideally I would also like to move the Proxmox management website onto the private network as well so that it is only accessible over the VPN.

Thanks for any help.

Normally, OpenVPN creates point-to-point network for the server and the client, so you cannot add stuff.

What you can do is running a private network with your containers including an openvpn-gateway and route traffic between the networks. I run a similar setup which works fine.
