Access the DVDRW drive from a VM

Dear,

I am wanting to access the DVDRW drive from a VM template created with a fart debian 5.0 but not mount the same as physical drive is not listed in / dev /.
How could i access the drive?

I am using Proxmox 1.8.
There is no standard solution to access the drive? or that is the most used to access files "outside" the system?

a cd-writer is a special case, why do you need this inside a guest? just describe your goal, probably there is a simple solution.
 
I need to install some applications I have on a DVD, so I need to access it from the host.
For now, fix the problem by copying the contents of the DVD in a folder within the host in / var/lib/vz/root/101/media/dvd where I can access the files I need.
However, would believe that there must be a solution to access the device.
