Hi all, I just installed proxmox on a new machine and I have some questions.

My goal is set a NAS with a TrueNAS vm where I can have my personal data, also have some other vms on proxmox where I can test multiple OS and services but accessing the data on the TrueNas vm. So for example I have my photo library in TrueNas but i would like to run a separate vm with a selfhosted googlephotos-like service (photoprism) and feed the service from the photo library on TrueNas.

My setup is a Proliant Microserver Gen 10 + and 4 drives, one for proxmox and vms and the other 3 only for data. My initial idea was to have a drive shared with all vms which looks like is not a good idea (https://forum.proxmox.com/threads/shared-disk-between-vms.32282/) ,but if I can have the truenas shared folders available for the other vms would be great, so far I haven't found a solution for this second option, ¿can you please point me to a tutorial or the steps to get this?

Thanks in advance!

Hello,

First og all, you 've missenderstood the topic you've linked.

They want to make an Internat Virtual Disk shared by configfile. And no, without capabilities in virtualization /storage, you can forguot them really fastly.

Now, you wanna another way: you want to let's access to yours Nas Shared Folders for your other VMs.

In this case, on the VM Nas, you only need to share via NFS or CIFS/SMB your datas folders.
But, for nfs/cifs/smb, please ask to google, not here :)

Hi, thanks for your reply, after i posted this question I realized that my approach to share files between vms was not correct since I wanted to share the drive itself like if it was a USB drive to move between computers but the most logical way to share data between vms in my case is through shared folders which is what I have running and working perfectly fine.

Regards.
