a fax modem connected to the host?

Hi All,

Has anyone tried to run hylafax on a Ubuntu guest?

How do you connect/configure /dev/ttyS0 on the host so the guest sees it as /dev/ttyS1?
(s0 on the guest is 'reserved' for a terminal not?)

Or do I go buy a SUB-serial converter and work it as a USB connection?


Ideas welcome.

i know with some versions of kvm you can map pci devices through to the guest so i would assume you can map serial interfaces through as well

if not usb would work as well

Tried to add

serial: /dev/ttyS0

in the conf file for the guest, but no luck

minicom on the host 'sees' the modem

minicom on the guest just 'hangs'

Googled for different things but anything 'serial' talks about a vt220 of some sort...

A USB converter would work the best in your situation.
