98% storage for LVM best practice?

I have been told it's best practice to have only 98% of my storage allocated for LVM in PVE. Is this accurate and/or is it more applicable to older versions? My PVE 8.3.3 install did not give me any place to choose this parameter; it just used 100%.

Can you point to a source for that?

In a not-PVE-specific context, ie, for LVM in general: some modifications of your LVM setup require free 'extends'.

In case of managing your storage through the webinterface, you don't have the granularity to create multiple physical volumes out of a single device, and the need for those free extends does not arise. Depending on your setup, you'd add a device or exchange parts of a mirror for a larger devices one by one.
