I have four nodes cluster in which there is no free space to make safe upgrade to 8.
Firstly i want to exapnd that cluster and make upgrade to 8.

I see, 7.4 will work just as well for that. The cluster is usually also fine with not running the same version, since at least during the upgrade there will be nodes with different PVE versions in the same cluster. Just make sure your nodes run the same major ceph version. And before upgrading to 8, make sure all nodes are on 7.4[1].

Are you saying that i can have coherent cluster with 7.1 and 7.4 nodes?

Yes. You should try to keep nodes as close as possible version wise, but it is not a requirement to have them at the exact same versions. Live migrations also work, as long as:

Migration compatibility rules to keep in mind when planning your cluster upgrade:
- A migration of a VM or CT from an older version* of Proxmox VE to a newer version will always work.
- A migration from a newer Proxmox VE version to an older version may work, but is generally not supported.[1]

*major version, so PVE 7, PVE 8. Within the same major version it'll always be supported.

Also for the upgrade please follow [2] as close as possible, to avoid any pitfalls or problems.
