Hi,

I have tried to upgrade from 6.4 to 7 and am now in apt dependancy hell..... i have followed the steps here - https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Upgrade_from_6.x_to_7.0#In-place_upgrade

This was the first bump out of the apt dist-upgrade

Bash:
dpkg: python-samba: dependency problems, but removing anyway as you requested:
 samba-common-bin depends on python-samba.
 samba depends on python-samba.

Unpacking python3-ceph-argparse (15.2.13-pve1) ...
dpkg: error processing archive /var/cache/apt/archives/python3-ceph-argparse_15.2.13-pve1_all.deb (--unpack):
trying to overwrite '/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/ceph_argparse.py', which is also in package ceph-common 12.2.13-pve1
Errors were encountered while processing:
 /var/cache/apt/archives/python3-ceph-argparse_15.2.13-pve1_all.deb
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

i have tried these commands

Bash:
apt update
apt --fix-broken install
apt dist-upgrade
apt full-upgrade

full output attached

to summarise the loop is below....... any help would be greatly appreciated

Thank you for the output.

As we mentioned in our wiki [0], upgrade your Ceph to Octopus version [1] before you upgrade to Proxmox VE 7.x

[0] https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Upgrade_from_6.x_to_7.0#Preconditions
[1] https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Ceph_Nautilus_to_Octopus

Are you saying the installation is now unrecoverable from this state?

I have tried the steps for ceph to octpus guide but fails (output below)

Bash:
root@pve:/etc/apt/sources.list.d# sed -i 's/nautilus/octopus/' /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ceph.list
root@pve:/etc/apt/sources.list.d# cat /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ceph.list
#deb http://download.proxmox.com/debian/ceph-octopus buster main
root@pve:/etc/apt/sources.list.d# ceph osd set noout

odd, can you disable the non Debian and PVE repository and try again?

Code:
/etc/apt/sources.list.d/atomic.list
deb https://updates.atomicorp.com/channels/atomic/debian buster main

/etc/apt/sources.list.d/plexmediaserver.list
deb https://downloads.plex.tv/repo/deb public main

if still the issue please post the output of apt update command.

Just to save you any more time - i have decided to nuke and pave the OS drive and re-import the VMs. Thanks for your help

This is along the same lines of after the upgrade, everything running smoothly, but I have the warning on the Administration->repositories (see pic)
I see the below in my apt sources, unfortunately I'm not well versed in Debian being a Centos/RedHat person.
Should I simply change the no-subscription file and type in bullseye?

/etc/apt/sources.list.d/ cat pmg-enterprise.list
deb https://enterprise.proxmox.com/debian/pmg bullseye pmg-enterprise

/etc/apt/sources.list.d/ cat pmg-no-subscription.list
deb https://enterprise.proxmox.com/debian/pmg buster pmg-enterprise

Thanks in advance!
