Hi All,

I just wanted to ask for your opinion on the idle power of my home server.

PSU is Seasonic 650w Gold
3950x with x570-P Prime Asus
64GB DDR4 3200
2x 1TB nvme
6x 12TB WD Gold via PCIE x2 card
1x 10TB WD Purple Surveillance HDD
1x gtx 1080

CPU governor set to powersave. No VMs or containers installed this is a clean/fresh install.

Do you think this is a reasonable idle power consumption? I dont have a problem if it is, just double checking before installing everything on it.

Thank you!

This can be normal. Big HDDs can consume up to 15W each and many People don’t calculate the Power Usage of RAM. For your CPU and GPU, you have good values from the Vendor.

Thank you! I appreciate you commenting.
I checked the HDD consumption and yes it says 9-15w idle so that would make sense.
