2 Node Cluster

Hello all,

I have two PVE servers in my home lab. In this scenario I would like to be able to migrate vms from one node to the other node, as well as setup VM HA with OPNsense. Do I need to share storage for this to occur? I know what needs to be done on the OPNsense side but more focused on what is needed to allow VMs to migrate seamlessly. Lastly I see it says I should have a NIC on each PVE server that would be used for PVE clustering. Does this have to be a physical/virtual NIC or could this just be a VLAN that is dedicated to PVE clustering?

Thanks,
Steve

Why not build a OPNSense HA setup of 2 nodes?
Thats exactly what I am going to do...which is why I said I know what I need to do there. I have a number of single VMs that I want to ensure can move from one node to the other when needed, like maintenance on the active node or a failure of the active node.

Just 1 VM per PXE host, and build up the HA between them (any network will do). Only problem with OPNsense HA, you need 3 uplink IP addresses, otherwise it will not work. With 1 single provider IP, this does not work.

I have an ISP router in front, so essentially the WAN side of the OPNsense VMs will have physical IPs, with a HA IP.
