i read some other threads about this error already, just wanted to make sure what my options are.
we have a pve-cluster setup with 9 nodes, all with identical hardware.
we now wanted to scale out and ordered identical hardware, only difference we got delivered a rev 1.3 of the mainboard.
for this board the chipset 2.5G nic wont be detected.

new:
Code:
pve2 kernel: r8169 0000:0d:00.0: error -ENODEV: unknown chip XID 000, contact r8169 maintainers (see MAINTAINERS file)
0d:00.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8125 2.5GbE Controller (rev 05)
Subsystem: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd RTL8125 2.5GbE Controller
        Kernel modules: r8169
old:
Code:
pve1 kernel: RTL8226B_RTL8221B 2.5Gbps PHY r8169-0-1000:00: attached PHY driver (mii_bus:phy_addr=r8169-0-1000:00, irq=MAC)
10:00.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8125 2.5GbE Controller (rev 05)
Subsystem: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd RTL8125 2.5GbE Controller
        Kernel driver in use: r8169
        Kernel modules: r8169

tried building and loading the driver from here (weird thing is r8169 shouldnt work with 2.5G according to this). nic got detected and can be interacted with, but cant communicate, get NO-CARRIER whatsoever.

do i wait and hope for any fix coming from realtek (shitshow) or do i throw out the mainboard?
