I wrote something down on Github and would love to hear your feedback.
The problem with RAIDZ or why you probably won't get the storage efficiency you think you will get.
Work in progress, probably contains errors! As a ZFS rookie, I struggled a fair bit to find out what settings I should use...

ZFS RAID1 vs RAIDZ-1?
After a long trip with Proxmox 6 its time to move on to 7 now.
Trying a new clean install i found the BTRFS implementation (not interested for now) and an old intrigue that I could never answer.
-Why on the Filesystem options i get options like ZFS...
Good day to all,
I setuped RAID-5 configuration and did some disks performance/efficiency tests. Main idea is to check RAID-5 efficiency with this server configuration:
CPU: 48 Cores @ 2.8 GHz
RAM: RAM DDR4 256GB 2400
Disk: 4x NVME 500GB (Samsung SSD 970 EVO Plus 500GB)
Raid Level: Custom
I'm trying to set up a RAID 5 architecture using proxmox 6.2-4. The server has no hardware support for RAID.
I have three disks of different size (1TB, 640GB, 640GB), so I can't select RAIDZ-1 on the installation menu. I have read on the forum that I have to configure this using zpool...
Hello every body!
I'm very new to proxmox and facing a strange thing:
I built a ZFS RAIDZ1 / RAID5 from 4 4TB drives for a total usable size of theorically 12 TB.
Once formatted, there's 10.21 TB Usable for datas:
Using Thick Provisionning - no snapshot running

I have a Proliant DL380 G7 with dual CPU (x5690) and HP P410i smart raid controller.
The controller does not support HBA / JBOD so I initialized the disks all as a single volume. I have the following drives available:
- 1 SSD 120 GB for ZFS caching
- 3 78 GB 15K SAS drives planned for...
