[TUTORIAL] Deep dive into Storage Controllers and Performance of Windows on Proxmox - Continued

Hello All, Here's another technote in the Windows on Proxmox series. In Part 4, we quantify and compare IOPS, bandwidth, and latency across all storage controllers and AIO modes under ideal conditions (i.e., "unloaded"), utilizing Windows 2022 running on Proxmox with iSCSI shared block storage...

Workaround for fsfreeze/fsthaw ZFS 2.2 freezing drives with iothread

Proxmox 8.1.3 (proxmox 8.0.x is working properly in this case) ZFS 2.2.x Snapshot VM with enabled qemu-gest -> frozen drive(s) inside VM (both win and lin) Workarounds: 1. Disable iothread option on the SCSI drives (worse performance) OR 2. "Pause" the VM for the snapshot moment (this will...

    I/O trotz ZFS langsam

Hi, I just built a new KVM virtual machine, I first decided to put only one vdisk with few partitions (on a RAID10 ZFS pool with fast SSD), one partition for OS and the other for datas (SQL Server databases). I'm wondering if instead of using only one vdisk it could be better to use 2 vdisks...

[SOLVED] Anyone already using "IO Thread" and PVE-Zsync?

Hey all, Has anyone been using pve-zsync with "IO Thread" on a VirtIO SCSI drive successfully? Any thoughts or feedback before I try it? This would seem to have the best of all worlds - minimally impactful backups + higher performing I/O. Thanks!

    qemu-2.7 iothread

I thought qemu-2.7 had solved all issues regarding iothread but apparently you are still not able to make a backup if iothread is enabled. Am I missing something?

    pve 4.2 and iothread

Hi all, I have done some IO tests on proxmox 4.2 with iothread. Results below: fio --description="Emulation of Intel IOmeter File Server Access Pattern" --name=iometer --bssplit=512/10:1k/5:2k/5:4k/60:8k/2:16k/4:32k/4:64k/10 --rw=randrw --rwmixread=80 --direct=1 --size=4g --ioengine=libaio...
