hdd-images transfer upload

Hi all, i have install a testserver with proxmox 4.2 iso. after install hdd files are not in /var/lib/vz than they are in /dev/pve ??? if i would change a hdd of a system to new system i can not copy it to this dir and on webinterface the button upload is grey/disabled. how can i create a normal...
