Proxmox install in Mac Pro 6,1 2013 (Thrash can)

Hi, Not really sure if this method would add any penalty to the Proxmox execution, on this setup I'm running 3/4 VMs at the moment which are very light. It is possible that Proxmox made their install lighter by removing stuff which doesn't need to be running, which I haven't bothered doing. J.

Proxmox install in Mac Pro 6,1 2013 (Thrash can)

Installing Debian 11 right now... It seems the issue I was getting (No device for installation media was detected) is easily fixed by removing the USB drive and plug it back again... Oh well, always learning :p

Thanks for your reply. I've looked into it, but when trying to install Debian from an USB, after I select to install it I get a message saying it couldn't find the installer drive? Weird, need to investigate a bit further. J.

Proxmox install in Mac Pro 6,1 2013 (Thrash can)

Hi again, Just found the exact error: b43-phy0 ERROR: FOUND UNSUPPORTED PHY (Analog 12, Type 11 (AC), Revision 1). This seems to be related with the fact that the Mac Pro has a wifi chip? See error screenshot below/attached. Does anyone know about a way to run the Proxmox installer and...

Hi, Got a Mac Pro 6,1, 2013 version (also known as Thrash Can), my idea is to install Proxmox on it to use as my homelab. Already running Proxmox at work, so decided to use it as well at home. When I launch it via the USB installer, I manage to reach the install launch option, but after a bit...

Setting different VM ID ranges in separate Proxmox clusters

Hi, we're currently setting up a second Proxmox cluster, but the backups for both clusters will be done on the same Proxmox Backup Server. Is there a way to configure both Clusters to use different VM ID ranges? For example cluster 1 could use 1000-1999and cluster 2000-2999. Thank you, J.

    Mixing different versions of Proxmox

Hi all, We're getting some servers in the coming weeks and of course they will have Proxmox installed as soon as they're powered on. At the moment we are running a cluster of Proxmox 6.4 servers. Is it OK to install the latest version in the new servers and add them to the cluster? The idea...

[SOLVED] hostname kernel: [887657.076734] nfs: server 192.168.yyy.xxx not responding, timed out

Hi, I've tried unmounting the NFS share I had used previously to host some templates (which I later discovered I can't use for that purpose) but I'm still getting the same error in the logs. Any idea on how to solve this? Thanks in advance, J.

Hi everyone, We've been running Proxmox for less than a year now, planning for upgrading it to the latest version (6.3). We have a 4 node cluster, with VM local storage. Any recommendations on how to proceed? Should we shut down all VM's or move them to another node, is it good idea to...

Applying licenses after almost 1 year of running Proxmox

Hi, We've purchased support for out Proxmox cluster, after running it for almost a year, to be sure we were happy with it. We've applied the licenses but I'm a bit curious about what will happen in terms of updates. Do updates install automatically when they're available? Regards, J.
