I set up an Ubuntu VM with passed-through GPU, mouse, and keyboard. When the host is not reachable, also the VM cannot establish a network connection, even though ip a shows eth0 UP.
After a reboot, it is working fine again.
Hiervon...
Hi there
I'm passing through an RX580 AMD GPU to an Ubuntu 20.04 VM. I can restart the VM from within the VM, but not from the host. When I shut down the VM I cannot restart it from the host. I won't get graphic output anymore. I read about this issue a lot, but I did not come across a solution...
Some issues remain (cannot shut down VM and restart it later from proxmox GUI, but restart within VM works), besides that, passthrough of my RX580 seems to work.
I used the following guides: [1], [2], [3], [4]
In addition to that I had to:
disable AER (and therefore also ACS) in BIOS...
In the host BIOS I disabled ARI, ACS, and AER. Now I am able to pass-through the AMD GPU to the Ubuntu 20.04 VM. At first, I got no graphical output from the VM. But, the GPU was listed under lspci. I had to reboot the host. Now I get graphical output from the passed-through GPU.
But now, I...
I try to passthrough a AMD RX580 GPU to a VM, which boots fine without the GPU. With the GPU added as an "all function" PCIe device I only get the Guest has not initialized the display (yet) message in the console.

Sorry, I did not mention that I already did that before. My config looks like this atm:

I have exactly the same issue with a very similar VM config.

Thank you for updating it!
I'm not even doing FullHD over noVNC, so that should not cause the issue. But when installing arch (pure CLI) it was snappy, also downloading packages and installing them went quickly.
I successfully passed through a 10GBit network card (Aquantia AQC107 Chip). I did...
Well, mainly because the Wiki says so. ;)
And I got the following messages in the host's console, when I try to add a Radeon RX580 to an Arch Linux VM (OVMF BIOS, q35) which only displays "Guest has not initialized the display (yet)" in noVNC.

The solution works - but: After every other reboot it changes from enp7s0 to enp6s0 just to change from enp6s0 back to enp7s0 after two reboots. Why is it alternating between the two all the time? Can I make it stick?
Hi there
I'm trying to set-up GPU pass-thorugh, but dmesg | grep ecap does not return anything. Not even an error. It is a pretty fresh proxmox install, where I followed the tutorial in the forum and set up a first Windows10 VM. I did not use ZFS for the root folder, but created a ZFS mirror...
Thank you very much for your kind reply.

Hi there
Yesterday, I installed proxmox following this tutorial, from which I deviated slightly by using one SSD for the host + isos and created a ZFS mirror with two NVMe SSDs for the VMs. After that I set up a Windows10 VM. In the end, I shut down the server.
Today, I powered on the server, I...
