Thanks for your reply, it must be something to do with rclone. Samba share works fine when I try on a new folder and chown. Just can't make it work on the rclone mount. Nevermind. I'll have to find a workaround for this.
Hi,
I am trying to configure Samba share on the host (failed within CT trying to share mount point, moved to host hoping it would resolve permissions issues), I have followed Debian instructions here, I can view the share remotely but I can't write to it.
I have created "samba" user on the host...
So, as expected, after reboot my Realtek 8168 wasn't showing up in NICs list as dkms driver failed to install after kernel update.
* connected USB NIC and changed virtual interface to use the USB one (so I had internet)
* downloaded kernel headers apt-get install linux-headers-$(uname -r)

I'm guessing, after reboot I will loose network again... after another kernel update:
Examining /etc/kernel/postinst.d.

It's the whole solution (in a brief and short sentence), which step are you struggling with? Where are you at with your system?
#Add the non-free repo
nano /ect/apt/sources.list
deb http://ftp.debian.org/debian bookworm-updates main contrib non-free
# Run apt update, install the package, and...
Fab, thanks @fschauer, works flawlessly
Step 1. in /etc/lvm/lvm.conf
global_filter=["r|/dev/zd.*|", "r|/dev/disk/by-id/<your disk id>|"]
Step 2. install hd-idle and run the following command (to put to standby after 10 minutes/600 seconds)
hd-idle -a sda -i 600
Step 3. add to system startup...
update: I've found the missing character | at the end of the command, tested and working :) Thank you
global_filter=["r|/dev/zd.*|", "r|/dev/disk/by-id/<your disk id>|"]
when I enter disk by-id in lvm.conf, none of the machines (CTs and VMs) start after host reboot. I have checked disk ID by...
Thanks @fschauer, sounds easily achieveable.
I will need to do a bit more research on this :D as I have made the change, rebooted the host (remotely) and it didn't come back up. I will have to check it (physically) after work when I'm back home.
I have installed an additional HDD (spinning platters) in my PVE host, it will be purely used to take weekly backups of VMs and CTs (which currently takes less than 10 minutes).
Would it be possible to put the drive to sleep (and stop the platters spinning) for the remaining time of the week...
[update] had to purge dkms driver and start again, download pve kernel headers again, change repositories, download dkms drivers, update GRUB file and reboot.
ah, not sure what has happened, I went away for a 5 days and had the host turned off by mistake (not sure if any updates/upgrades were...
Ok, I've managed to get headers, once driver was installed it was significantly better - but still not using the full speed.
I've added the grub argument mentioned by @msangi, rebooted and now working at full speed.
Thank you!
Thanks OP and other for this,
I'm just refreshing/replacing my current pve host, got hold of Dell Micro 3060 (same as OP) with Realtek NIC. Network works, but seems to be capped at 1Mbps.
I've tried both solutions to upgrade NIC driver, installing with non-free repository and manually, but I...
sorted :)
apt remove pve-kernel-6.0*edge pve-headers-6.0*edge
then
dpkg --list|grep pve-kernel
I could still see it in kernels list, so ran:
apt-get --purge remove pve-kernel-6.0.19-edge
All back to Proxmox kernel, ready for PVE 7 to 8 upgrade tonight.
Thanks
Hi,
I've been using pve edge kernels for few years, but I would like to revert back to using Proxmox ones. Feels like it's a good time to do it now before upgrading to PVE 8. Is there a recommended way of switching between kernels (and stopping edge kernels to upgrade and force again?).
Thanks...
Hi @Orkhan ,
Not sure what's your situation, but this did the trick in my situation.

I'm getting full 900Mbps in CT/VM on my 900Mbps broadband.
Good luck
I have exactly the same problem:
novnc works in web gui locally 192.1.1.x:8006
when behind ssl and nginx https://mydomain.com novnc doesn't work (accessing gui etc is fine).
