hi there,
i've read quite a few posts about that pbs should be flash based due to the small chunk size and its effect on the throughput. I would agree however storing backups on flash is still quite an expensive proposition at the moment. Currently we deploy a backup server with spinning disks...
hi there,
I know that PBS is using a absolute ton of tiny files, and as such is very IO intensive. As a result I think an all SSD is recommended however this is not very cost effective.
We currently use a all HDD pool and i've been looking at improving speeds.
does an L2ARC which stores meta...
hi Cris,
yes PBS is compatible with Tape drives and libraries. I use it to do regular backups and works just fine.
I think they support most standard LTO tape libraries, although not sure which ones.
Its a recent thing yes; not entirely sure if it was > 7.2 as I auto update my machines daily. Having said that I do believe it also happened from last week so could well be < 7.2
hi Mgabriel,
no it is for linux vms, windows, containers the lot.
when I book I see this task:
and when I used to shutdown I saw the reverse task "shutting down all VMs and Containers"
this no longer happens and it will just kill all vms and instantly turn off.
hi there,
I have a machine that I regularly shutdown and so far the startup/shutdown sequence always seems to work:
on boot of host all vms and containers get started
on shutdown of host all vms and containers get shutdown and I see a task appear.
until recently, now I see:
on boot of host...
hi Giovanni,
this is pretty much what VXLAN was made for (ish), to have l2 routed over an l3 underlay like what you describe. When you use the SDN in proxmox to create a vxlan vnet that should let you do this. Mind you however that this is L2 only and thus all L3 traffic still would need...
interestingly, I updated the SDN config to include one of my other interfaces:
cat /etc/network/interfaces.d/sdn
#version:10
auto vnet001
iface vnet001
bridge_ports vxlan_vnet001 enp0s31f6.30
bridge_stp off
bridge_fd 0
mtu 1450
auto vxlan_vnet001

Yeah I was wondering about the hardware support, I currently only have a cisco catalyst 3560-cx, which annoying doesn't support vtep. Maybe i need to look at Arista.
I actually had a look at tnsr for this like you proposed. It looks promising on the tin but didn't quite get it to work. I do...
one thing I was looking into, and not sure If i understand this correctly, but does proxmos allow to bridge a vxlan to a normal vlan? SImilar to how I believe NSX calls a VTEP? reason is I have physcial hardware i'd like to communicate to vm's on L2 that run on a vxlan?
so i removed the node and re-added the node and the issue seems gone now, so something must have gone wrong with joining the cluster. Not sure where the issue was unfortunately
well i tried setting the token time out to 10000ms but that didn't do much,
im thinking of removing and rejoining the cluster to see if that fixes the issue
now reading the documentation it says you can't really rejoin the cluster with a node that was previously there, but it doesn't say why...
whilst all this is happening I can ping the other hosts before and after I power up the node,
interestingly I do get a message
May 12 23:15:40 uk-wak-hv01 corosync[3471]: [KNET ] link: host: 2 link: 0 is down
May 12 23:15:40 uk-wak-hv01 corosync[3471]: [KNET ] host: host: 2 (passive)...
so they all check out, with the correct hosts
and whilst they are now ok it seems to be intermittend as well and only when the new node is on.
just now both nodes disappeared

1 , see below,
2 so yes udp is allowed between nodes and things work well when one of the two nodes isn't up.
there are currently no port / network restrictions in place between any of the nodes
3 I checked this, but no it's a newest version and doesn't seem to use multicast...
hi all,
i've been scratching my head around a strange issue with a cluster.
I originally have two nodes:
node1
node2
these two nodes are not in the same subnet
in a cluster and both are working fine. Last night I added a new cluster member: node3 and since I have done this i've observed...

Hi all,
i've just started with playing around with the SDN software and reading this thread not sure if this is a bug, or operator error,
however I ran into the following
I have two nodes in a cluster
hv01
hv02
I tried setting up a vxlan using the same controller and this all worked and I...
Hello,
I have a proxmox server remotely in a not-so-extremely-secure location. I can't change this due to various restricting factors, however I would like to encrypt the zfs drives. Doing this is relatively simple, however can we load the encryption key on boot and preferably from say TPM or...
Hi all,
I searched the forum and didn't see what I was looking for. If I didn't search properly apologies.
I am currently running proxmox on a set of HDD's and I want to move this to an SSD. I don't want to re-install ideally as I would have to setup all the settings again.
is there an easy...
