Thanks @RokaKen I did. I shut the VM down via the OS... (no HA)... proxmox saw the VM stopped.. and then I started from VM console.... still no joy.. proxmox doesn't see the guest agent.
What I did to install the virtio drivers btw.. is mounted the ISO.. and individually installed the guest...
Thanks @Moayad
# qm agent 142 ping
QEMU guest agent is not running
Powershell on VM indicates QEMU agent running..
Balloon service?? is that what it is called? I see nothing called Balloon..
Guest agent is running.. confirmed with powershell
Proxmox indicates 'not running'
qm agent ping says it as well...
Thoughts ? (I mean other than.. why are you running windows.. ;-))
Guidance? (other than switch from windows... ;-))
oh.... dude... if this works.... you are awesome. I can totally just save the important files... the vmid conf files... network interfaces... storage... reinstall my 2 remaining servers with 6.1.... slap the config files on them... and bang... good to go?
So... TECHNICALLY... what I'm hearing...
"what is unreliable with vzdump?"
Haha... I don't actually know... my first experience using it and seems ok so far. My network is only 1 gig here though so this 1.5 TB server has been vzdumping for 7 hours now.....
Another quick question... thank you so much by the way...
If I literally...
This..... Saddens me.
Could I qm export the VM's from my 5.3 nodes... and qm import them into a fresh new 6.1 install? Hmmmm... I guess the challenge... is the shared storage... because I can't share storage between 2 disparate clusters... correct? So if I don't have sufficient space to run...
MAY have determined the cause... something in the back of my mind was telling me to check the ntp…. time was off a little bit. My server that acts as an ntp was not reachable... 1 server (the new node) was off by 4 hours or so... I fixed that... so far... stable.... haven't had the repeated...
I had a 2 node proxmox cluster for a few months that seemed to work with no issues. I added a 3rd node yesterday and now I get a repeated authentication request when attempting to connect to the interface. It will connect for a few seconds and then if I click around it will repeat the auth...
noVNC... connected to an Ubuntu 18.04 VM... It's a 'desktop' version and it's running GNOME. I believe I have never seen it when consoled to an ubuntu server and no gui.... Generally I haven't tried another OS with a GUI like that... didn't occur to me to try spice or maybe a diff desktop.
I apologize if this has been asked/answered... I searched and found nothing. When I remote console quite often every 50 or so keystrokes the keystroke is repeated 15 times... i think in esx there is a parameter I can manipulate regarding keyboard delay... Has anyone else seen/fixed this?
