Just had this happen after update + reboot on:
qemu-server (8.0.7) bookworm; urgency=medium
pve-qemu-kvm (8.0.2-5) bookworm; urgency=medium
Though I'm guessing it doesn't have anything to do with the update, I'm putting that in here just in case. Maybe the disk was close to full. Unsure. I...
It looks like 5.13.19-4-pve has something wrong with it.
During bootup, when you briefly see the Proxmox grub menu, quickly select 'Advanced options for Proxmox VE GNU/Linux', and then 5.13.19-3-pve from the list of Kernels.
After doing that, my device properly passed through.
For the...
This guide was helpful for me:
https://rotelok.com/installing-arm64-debian-10-buster-in-a-virtual-machine/
It looks to me that IDE isn't supported and you'll need to manually edit your .conf to move your CDROM from ide2 to scisi#
I didn't read this entire thread in-depth so apologies if you've...
Thanks for info :)
As far as xterm.js, the issue arose during the middle of a very long batch job where things were still running in the cli and I got disconnected, when I reconnected it was just black. That being said, I haven't seen that much and have no problem reconnecting in other...
Hello,
This is probably a strange use case, and there are many other ways to do the same thing (SSH, xterm.js), but I've been trying to get SPICE clipboard functionality working with a CLI only guest. I'm connecting to the guests (Debian 10 & 11) with Spice client for Windows 10, from here...
Same issue. Added blank drive via gui, drive recently failed, removed drive. Multiple reboots later I don't see a way to remove the now missing drive and experience several minutes of delay on bootup as PVE looks for the drive.
I will follow the instructions in this thread, and am sure they...
I believe that this is the same bug as this: https://forum.proxmox.com/threads/proxmox-6-2-nvidia-gpu-passthrough-crashes-after-nvidia-driver-update.70531/
I've been having the same issue since May. If anyone is aware of a semi-easy fix please post. As far as I'm aware the only way to get it...
Also worth noting, the title of the link below accurately describes a lingering problem, even if the above can mitigate it
"Proxmox 6.2 - nvidia gpu passthrough crashes after nvidia driver update"...
Thank you so much for posting this! I had the same issue.
Is anyone aware of an underlying setting (or arg) that can mitigate this? I like to have MSI on anyways, but it gets reset on every driver install.
I saw some discussion of kernel_irqchip=on, but that doesn't resolve this for me.
Hello,
An update this morning bumped my (pve-nonsubscriptsion) from 6.0-12 to 6.0-15, after this bump my backups are failing to run. I tried rebooting, same result.
ERROR: Backup of VM 300 failed - Undefined subroutine &PVE::QemuServer::Machine::version_cmp called at...
In case anyone who is excited by this but isn't sure what version I'm running, here:
root@pve 03:23:28 ~ → pveversion -v
proxmox-ve: 6.0-2 (running kernel: 5.0.21-4-pve)
pve-manager: 6.0-11 (running version: 6.0-11/2140ef37)
pve-kernel-5.0: 6.0-11
pve-kernel-helper: 6.0-11

Just checked this, and I'm in the middle of backing up a running IO-thread flagged volume. This is awesome! Now I can schedule and forget my backups :)
Thanks!
Hello,
I wasn't sure if I should post this under Networking or Configuration. I've got an interesting issue. When I add "hugepages: any" to two of my VM's (WS 2016, Debian 10), the network never connects. Debian complains it can't bring the network interface up, WS2016 just says...
Using PCI Passthrough on a video card, I've found IO Thread to be a necessary setting to keep DPC latency stable in Windows guests, but I have to disable the flag and reboot prior to every backup.
Any chance this issue will get addressed in PVE 6 with the QEMU bump? I tried the beta, and am...
Hello,
I have a stand-alone PVE server and the disk the OS was install on failed. I've now re-installed and can see the LVM-Thin pools under PVE>Disks>LVM-Thin (and lvdisplay) on the remaining healthy drives, but I can't seem to add them in Datacenter > storage.
Any help appreciated!
Thank you for the tip, I'll look into it. Unfortunately the disks are attached to a low-grade raid controller that doesn't pass SMART. I'll let this serve as a warning I may have a failing drive and run some backups.
