cat /var/log/syslog | grep ntp

So far, I've got good experiences with the Adaptec 5805. I've got two of them in use for SAS and SATA RAID 1 and 10 arrays. But this one whould be a little too much for just two SATA drives. I'm also looking for a cheaper RAID controller for servers that don't need that much performance. Only...
Hardware RAID is better but I agree with drdebian software RAID isn't always a bad idea. In most cases it's better than no RAID at all. A decent RAID controller will set you back about 500 bucks and that's not always an option. It makes life a lot easier though.
A cheaper alternative could be to...

At the system status for a node in the Proxmox webinterface.
It states "Physical Memory (15.67GB/1.54GB)" and a OpenVZ VM is taking up 12GB so the 15.67GB free memory isn't correct but the 1.54GB sounds plausible for the memory used by the host environment. I'm not running any KVM VM's.
The Proxmox host systems use around 0.5 to 1.5 GB, this varies greatly over time. Is there a way to limit this? I need the memory for the OpenVZ virtual machines and if I overbook the memory, for example I set a VM to 15.5 GB on a 16 GB machine, I get memory allocation errors in the VM.
I created two identical installations of Ubuntu 8.10 minimal + shh + apache2 + mysql5. One 32 bit and the other one 64 bit.
The 64 bit version used only 4% more memory.
I only tested under light load though.
Now that I understand the way LVM2 snapshots work, I went for the small root partition.
Currently, you can only shrink ext3 filesystems when they are not mounted. This means you can't shrink your root volume without booting from a cd-rom or another linux installation.
I won't have to shrink my...
I see now that vzdump Creates a temporary image in /var/tmp.
Can I symlink /var/tmp to a directory on the data volume and still have a very small root volume?
A fresh installation of Proxmox VE 1.0 defaults to a root volume of almost 70 GB (700 mb used). This is way to large and because it's a SAS RAID setup, the harddisk space is expensive.
According to this thread:
http://www.proxmox.com/forum/showthread.php?p=3882
you shouldn't make the root volume...
If I had to buy a new controller now it would be an Adaptec 5805.
No experience with them though. I now have LSI SAS contollers in my servers and their performance is satisfactory.
Tom's hardware isn't the most reliable source but one of the few comparisons of recent SAS controllers...
Hi,
If you click on destroy the container gets destroyed imediately, without asking for confirmation. This is the same behaviour as vzctl but clicking on a button is an easier mistake to make than typing 'vzctl destroy VEID'.
Could you add a confirmation to the destroy-button?
Btw, I just...
