    Network activity on guests

So I've read it about a bit more and it looks like that "bridge_ageing 0" was causing the trouble (looks like as it hasn't been caching the MAC table).

    Network activity on guests

So I've changed the "bridge_maxage 12" restared the server and it is still the same. Any other explanations? Thank You

    Network activity on guests

Hi, I'm seeing some weird network activity on the guest on the summary page. For each guest I see the same network activity, as if the activity was showing actually the host network activity. I'm using bonded interfaces (mode 1). Maybe this is the problem? For instance, I'm sending some data to...

    Ballon memory usage

Hi, I have a debian 7.11 guest using KVM and have a "balloon" memory set for it. The problem is, that the RAM usage in proxmox is always at max. If i run free -m from the guest I see the half of the memory is cached. # free -m total used free shared buffers...

    ZFS dedicated SLOG

Just curious, what MB do you use? Yes, there is still an option to replace the hard drives, even SAS if needed. The time will tell. But from my tests, I didn't notices very bad performance. I don't say that performance is superb, but it is ok for our situation. And the current situation is...

    ZFS dedicated SLOG

Thanks for the reply, both disk are sata HDD, but the one used for the root are 200 GB only. I want to have the root on a separate device, for simpler bare metal backup and recovery. This is my top priority, to have simple backup/restore strategy. I have also option to not to use ZFS on root if...

Frequent CPU stalls in KVM guests during high IO on host

Aah, yes, I see now, thanks :) Does the all the nodes have same HW configurations? Maybe I would try to reproduce the situation on a test box if you have some. I was getting some CPU stalls some time ago, but it was on the bare bone server and it was problem with tape drive and HBA.

Frequent CPU stalls in KVM guests during high IO on host

Do you really have only 4 GB of RAM, or was it typo? Anyway, have you monitor the system during backup using iotop, iostat, top etc. to find at leas some culprit?

    ZFS dedicated SLOG

Thanks for the reply. I've have already read the linked page, thank you anyway for providing it. Regards the benchmarking. I've run benchmark tools, but I wanted to know what my system actually is doing. You know, the benchmark could make some "sync" test but if my system does only 20% of the...

    ZFS dedicated SLOG

Hi, I'm trying to find if my proxmox system (with ZFS) will benefit from adding dedicated SSD M.2 for the SLOG. So can I somehow profile my system and find the number of sync writes (O_SYNC), or better, find if my sync writes are bottlenecks? I don't want to benchmark, I want to get the info on...

    "bare metal" backup/recovery

Thanks for the reply, do you have some useful links yo could share? I have already found some stuff about creating custom live CD, but would like to have as much as possible info. Thanks

    "bare metal" backup/recovery

Hi, I've tried to find some info about bare metal backup/recovery of proxmox installation (with ZFS). After searching and lot of trying I came up with some "walkthrough", although not a real bare metal. The scripts etc. are gathered from lot of places (also this forum) and updated for my needs...

Can't install Proxmox on HP Proliant DL380 Gen9

From what I know, you should use either HBA or JBOD for ZFS. Otherwise, all bets are off.

Can't install Proxmox on HP Proliant DL380 Gen9

I've installed PVE 4.3 with ZFS on DL160 gen9 server without problems. But I think that I needed to tweak some bios settings in regards the legacy bios and B140i controller. But looks like you've done this already.

Incomplete info for shrinking raw disk

I had a same problem with GPT based system (Windows Server 2012) in my case. I needed to fix the GPT http://superuser.com/questions/1081623/shrink-total-disk-image-uefi-gpt-flashdrive-freespace-at-end .

    Uncompressed Backup Problem

I've got the same problem too. I'm using ZFS for VM storage and disks are .raw. This problem has been reported on devel list some time ago ago, but no resolution http://pve.proxmox.com/pipermail/pve-devel/2014-June/011861.html .

VM disk shrinking (.raw) using ZFS storage

I have the free space at the end of the disk (500GB of 700GB). So I made a partition of it and have zeroed it. I think that time spent on this problem was more than I wanted :) The workaround as as posted earlier in this thread is satisfied, so I don't want and don't have time to research it...

VM disk shrinking (.raw) using ZFS storage

So I've tried once more and the result is same :) It is interesting, that if I clone the disk on the same zpool storage, than it works ok and the space occupied is only the one without the zero blocks. The output of lsblk (cannot copy text from vnc):

Ok I'll try, but I need to go off. Will post the result tomorrow. Thanks
