Hah! I bet you'd say that. :) No, cluster address is via bridge interface. This way I can provide dedicated IPs to the guest VMs. Besides, as per the doc, dedicated nic is only needed if you used shared storage which is not my setup.

@dietmar I think I know what causes the issue from this thread. it was the MTU size indeed. quite odd that setting the MTU to 8900 proxmox02 wasn't able to join the cluster. reverting it to the default MTU size (1410) make it work. I guess my question now is, what is the ideal MTU size for...
