Hi, I have a server that has already a bonded interface configured prior on Proxmox installation. Right now, I'm trying to setup a bridge interface vmbr0 in particular, but everytime I set the bridge_ports to bond0 my main network failed and I can no longer connect to the main host/node (as if...
@dmora hmmm. interesting findings! I can try this out, hopefully to get the same result as yours! :)
But you have configured ipV6 on the nodes interface that is being used by the virtual bridge (e.g. virt0), correct? so it's like you have configured this on an additional network interface (i.e...
@proxtest not really sure what is the relation of having an ipv6 in my proxmox cluster to a nodes getting disconnected from the cluster when the system load increases. Could you share some details? TIA
Hah! I bet you'd say that. :)
No, cluster address is via bridge interface. This way I can provide dedicated IPs to the guest VMs. Besides, as per the doc, dedicated nic is only needed if you used shared storage which is not my setup.
Hi,
I have a cluster setup with 2 nodes (proxmox01 and proxmox02). Proxmox01 is my primary node, then Proxmox02 is my second.
What I noticed is everytime proxmox02 gets a bit loaded (system load reach around 2.0) because of the "kvm" process, it automatically get disconnected from the cluster...
@manu Thanks for your response! as for the answers:
1. the network of the VM is up, I'm actually able to ssh to the VM/VMs and able to ping external network (e.g. google.com) from the console of the VM
2. Yes, the ssh session is still active when I ran "w" in the console. behind of the console...
@dietmar I think I know what causes the issue from this thread. it was the MTU size indeed. quite odd that setting the MTU to 8900 proxmox02 wasn't able to join the cluster. reverting it to the default MTU size (1410) make it work.
I guess my question now is, what is the ideal MTU size for...
Hi, I've uncovered an issue today with my Proxmox setup. So I have a cluster with two nodes. The primary node (proxmox01), and the secondary node (proxmox02). I have guest VMs running on both nodes. However, the problem is everytime I ssh into the guest VM from the secondary node (proxmox02)...
@dietmar Thanks for your inputs! I really appreciate it!
Anyway, I'm able to join proxmox02 in the cluster after we reinstalled the server.
It's quite odd, because the only changes I have for this setup are A.) I used older kernel (4.2.8-1-pve) B.) I've increased the MTU size to 8900 (from...
@dietmar Thank you for your prompt response! You mean, the network switch itself and not the interface in the hosts?
If so, I may need to coordinate this with our network engineering team. But for the meantime, I can probably use the default mtu size given by the (virtual) bridge.
But the real...
I have 2 newly installed proxmox hosts, and I'm trying to create a cluster. I have proxmox01 as my primary node and proxmox02 as my second node.
I was able to create the cluster on proxmox01.
root@proxmox01:~# pvecm create CADRE-PVE
Corosync Cluster Engine Authentication key generator...
Hi, I'm currently in a situation that I need to change the IPs for my proxmox nodes. For the reason that the current IP that we used is unfortunately conflicting on the weave network that we used as the bridge interface. So:
current IP:
proxmox01 - 10.2.4.1
proxmox02 - 10.2.4.2
NEW IP should...
@dcsapak thanks for the input! I think we have a clue on what's going on. I consulted Adam and it seems that this is something to do with the MTU settings on weave interface. I'll find a work around and I'll keep you posted.
@Dominik, I don't think the VM is sending any multicast on the network as it just a fresh install.
One thing I noticed earlier, I tried to create VM. Now directly to node 02 to avoid node 01 from disconnecting. But as soon as the VM is installed and started, I noticed from node 01 UI. Same...
@dcsapak Thanks for your response! see my answers in-line.
does it happen with every vm?
Yes. it happens in every VM I created (not starting it yet)
also if you start it from node 02 directly?
Starting it from node02 directly does not have issue. But again, Proxmox01 sees the node02 offline...
Hey @wolfgang, thanks for the prompt response!
Here's the multicast test between my two nodes:
root@proxmox01:~# omping -c 10000 -i 0.001 -F -q 10.2.4.1 10.2.4.2
10.2.4.2 : waiting for response msg
10.2.4.2 : waiting for response msg
10.2.4.2 : joined (S,G) = (*, 232.43.211.234), pinging...
Hi,
I have a fresh setup of Proxmox VE 4.2-15 cluster with two nodes running, Proxmox01 and Proxmox02.
Using Proxmox01's UI as my management UI, I'm able to deploy and setup a VM on Proxmox01 with no sweat. However, I'm having an issue deploying a VM in Proxmox02 (using Proxmox01's UI). I was...
