    Proxmox cloud provider for kubernetes

Which tool are you hoping to have integration with exactly? Its true that Google Compute Engine 'gcloud' command allows automatic creation of kubenernets clusters, as does 'kops' for AWS, etc. But you can make your own kubernetes cluster in a variety of ways: kubeadm, manual installation...

    KVM / CPU question

Hello, Given a server like this: CPU(s) 24 x Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU X5650 @ 2.67GHz (2 Sockets) What would be a good CPU configuration for a virtual machine that has some CPU heavy tasks? I don't want to overload the host machine, but I'd like to give most resources to this VM. Its a php...

API issue w/ 'proxmox' ansible module.

Indeed I piled on to an existing issue about the same error. Thanks !

API issue w/ 'proxmox' ansible module.

I found the issue or a workaround. I was trying to have the LXC target storgage be 'local' (default) but I did not have Container type allowed. So I just changed it to my other storage local-lvm. Ansible, and the pveproxy/access.log only showed 500 error, but querying the API with curl gave me...

API issue w/ 'proxmox' ansible module.

Hello, big proxmox fan and ansible user here. I am trying to create new LXC containers in proxmox using ansible. I believe this is same issue as: https://github.com/ansible/ansible/issues/25113 I'd like to help fix it and maybe do a pull request for the ansible module. I can't say with 100%...

Importing some windows machines from ESXi

Would it be possible to simply install the appropriate drivers for optimal KVM/proxmox hardware into the Windows guest as it is running in VMWARE, then convert the .vmdk to .qcow2 and make a new VM with it?

Importing some windows machines from ESXi

Alright some more information here. Instead of even doing the qemu-img convert at all, I tried again just coping the two .vmdk files over from nfs and making a new vm in proxmox with a .vmdk disk and putting my vmdk files where the proxmox-created .vmdk was. This did the same thing, the VM...

Importing some windows machines from ESXi

I'm not sure if this will help anyone give me suggestions, but heres what the backups I'm working with looks like: The .vmdk file is a text file: # Disk DescriptorFile version=1 encoding="UTF-8" CID=fffffffe parentCID=ffffffff isNativeSnapshot="no" createType="vmfs" # Extent description RW...

Importing some windows machines from ESXi

Those are not bad suggestions, but man it sure seems like there should be a way for me to take these backups I already have on my NFS and get them converted and running using qemu-convert etc ..

Importing some windows machines from ESXi

Hello, I am trying to move my last several VMs from ESXi, the linux ones were a cinch but Windows7 ones are giving me some trouble. On ESXi, I use the "ghettoVCB" backup tool which under the hood, uses "vmkfstools -i" to clone the VMs and make a "thin" .vmdk backup (which is a .vmdk text...

Making backups small / thin as possible

I do understand sdelete is used to "secure delete" in windows but that isn't really my objective, my objective is to set up my VMs in proxmox in such a way as to produce a backup that is as small as possible without losing any real data that isnt just garbage from past deleted files or empty...

Making backups small / thin as possible

Am I correct that this will not work with .raw disks and the backup size will always be almost the same size as the disk file itself even if I fstrim/discard ? I have a bunch of .raw disk

Making backups small / thin as possible

Looking for some feedback here, I recently noticed some of my backups were larger than I expected given the amount of actual data residing in the guest VMs. But I realized this is because some of those guest VMs had *previously* stored a lot of data and though I had deleted it it wasn't...

Does this mean I need to dist-upgrade to debian 9 / stretch and also use the pvetest repo ?

Can I run proxmox with Xorg / GNOME on Jessie ? (Xorg problem)

Hello, I have a linux-friendly laptop (Zareason) that came loaded with Ubuntu. I reformatted it with Debian Jessie with Gnome, and followed the instructions for installing proxmox on Jessie. All installed fine, but after reboot Xorg will not start. (Xorg worked fine with both Ubuntu and...

4.4 no-subscription cluster quorum lost , nodes red

Alright, so this is resolved for now. Last week , we changed network switches. Everything was working fine, but after the backup failed I could not get quorum again. After looking at the page about multicast on the wiki I asked my coworker to check the "IGMP" settings and when he changed...

4.4 no-subscription cluster quorum lost , nodes red

Hello, I have a cluster running 4.4 no subscription. Last night my NFS backup failed (all nodes backing up at once, on same network as cluster communications). Now from each node's web UI, all other nodes are showing red, and I cannot edit the backup job because /etc/pve/ permission denied...

confusion about 'local' storage size after install from ISO

Thanks UDO - but I'm still not sure what you are suggesting I should do. Before I did the above steps (mkfs.ext4 /dev/mapper/pve-data ) , the majority of my disk space was unused but it was not mounted anywhere. My etc /fstab just contained this: /dev/pve/root / ext4 errors=remount-ro 0 1...

confusion about 'local' storage size after install from ISO

I must have missed something during the ISO installs, but it seems as simple as: mkfs.ext4 /dev/mapper/pve-data then add this to /etc/fstab: /dev/pve/data /data ext4 errors=remount-ro 0 1 then mkdir /data ; mount -a then go into proxmox webUI, add storage type "Directory" , not...

confusion about 'local' storage size after install from ISO

OK, But the question I have is what is the recommended method for using the rest of the disk space? Perhaps it would be nice if the installer would advise of this. The problem I have is I have ran out of space in "local" a few times because it was automatically provisioned to ~95 gb, and I...
