Detecting Migration (with no migration at all...)

Hello! I found several threads (here and elsewhere) regarding this issue (or, at least, related to this issue): The point is that we don't run a cluster/node (so no "migration"), and when a run the command line with strace, I got this: (...) read(3, "", 4096) = 0...

PMG: upgrade from 7.3-8 to 8

Hello! I'm trying to upgrade PMG but it seems there's an issue with some repositories. The source.list and source.list.d/pve.list has the following content: deb http://deb.debian.org/debian bookworm main contrib deb http://deb.debian.org/debian bookworm-updates main contrib # security...

PBS: large amount of host files (ZFS backend, CIFS mounted)

Hello! I'm trying to use PBS to backup my host files, but there is something that I can't understand. Let me explain... On my ZFS pools, I have a dataset with 3TB of media files. This dataset is mounted in a Debian VM through CIFS. I wrote a script to backup this "folder" to PBS using...

    FreeBSD as VM?

Got it. GuestAgent was enable in the PVE, but not inside the VM, of course. Solved. Thanks.

    FreeBSD as VM?

That's the point: STOP mode didn't stopped the VM. The job hangs trying to do it...

    FreeBSD as VM?

Hi! Thanks for replying, but I don't quite get from your reply if the suspend mode is ok or no to use. Yesterday I tried STOP (it doesn´t) and SNAPSHOT( fs-freeze warning), but it seems that SUSPEND was done with no issues/warnings, apparently...

    FreeBSD as VM?

More than a year and half later... In order to circumvent the fsfreeze/thaw issue, would be ok to backup a TRUENAS VM using the "suspend" mode then? Thanks. Regards.

Why PBS doesn't show HOST format in PVE content interface?

Thanks for replying Dominik. Indeed, by some reason, PVE thinks that all my storage is clean, and all my content is inside CTs and VMs, but, at least in my case, is quite the opposite: all my really valuable and relevant content is in the host storage itself, and all my CTs and VMs are really...

Why PBS doesn't show HOST format in PVE content interface?

Hi! I'm using (or trying to) PBS, and there is something really weird: why it is possible to see the backup content of CTs and VMs format in the PVE interface, but not the HOST format?

    Is PBS "compatible" with docker?

Hello! I'm trying PBS for the first time, and I'm facing some trouble with the backup of just one of my containers. This problematic container is running docker (Portainer, Traefik and a bunch of others). There are 3 volumes attached: 1) root disk: 6GB (backup=yes) 2) /opt: 8GB (backup=yes)...

A Conversation about Backup Strategies and PBS

Ok. And is there a menu entry to make this type of backup in Proxmox VE version 7*?

A Conversation about Backup Strategies and PBS

Hello @Dunuin ! Thanks for sharing your thoughts and experience. But, I don't quite get this part: How do you managed those 20TB of data that you have (ok, I have...) at the host level? That 20TB that isn't inside any container or VM, with PBS and no snapshots? I guess that rotating...

Can't start privoxy in an unprivileged container

Hello everybody! Does anybody knows what is necessary in order to run privoxy inside an unprivileged container? I always get: Jul 29 23:43:51 i2pd-pve systemd-logind[84]: New seat seat0. Jul 29 23:43:56 i2pd-pve login[120]: pam_unix(login:session): session opened for user root(uid=0) by...

A Conversation about Backup Strategies and PBS

Hi! Thanks for replying and thanks for the interest in my case. As far as I can understand, my underlying storage filesystem is ZFS only at the host level. Once it is bind mounted inside a container, it is not ZFS anymore... So my point is that I want to backup my pools as ZFS pools/datasets...

A Conversation about Backup Strategies and PBS

Ok... backup strategies... What I'm going to say has no relation with pushes and pulls (and sorry if this sounds like a thread hijacking), but Proxmox in general (and not only PBS) has a serious issue for years regarding backup. All "strategies" and tools focus on backing up your VMs and...

PMX 7.2-7: no network after creating a 2nd bridge (clean instance)

Got it. No. All the NICs are isolated, independent.

PMX 7.2-7: no network after creating a 2nd bridge (clean instance)

If by "bonded" you mean "if there is a network cable connecting the NIC and the switch", yes. All of them are connected.
