Rebooted Proxmox and getting grub screen with no information

yes: make sure no extra HDD or SSD is connected other than the NVME with proxmox. get the debian installer and put it on something and boot to it. select advanced options select rescue mode you can mostly select the defaults until you get to 'device to use as root file system' there hopefully...

Rebooted Proxmox and getting grub screen with no information

it should be fixable by booting a debian installer and selecting rescue, doing a grub reinstall, also. but he mentioned later that nothing was showing up at one point.

Rebooted Proxmox and getting grub screen with no information

well boot to a gparted live and see what is going on with the disk. if you post the mainboard and drive set up we might be able to recommend some configs that would make you setup process easier also.

    my NVMEs suck

so i put 4x intel s3700 drives in a RAIDZ1 and have good performance. 3200 fsync and 1/4 better throughput across the board than the old pcie hardware array. proving that doing correct research on the SSD for the task at hand IS in fact quite important. last question, does it matter what...

    zfs status in GUI

is there really not ANY status monitor for a supported ZFS pool in the gui at all? this seems like such a easy thing to implement and there has been ZFS support in proxmox for a long time now. or am i just blind and can't find it?

    my NVMEs suck

is there a guide for doing a LVM mirror on proxmox? i have not found a lot of info on it and it does not seem to be an 'out of the box' proxmox config.

    my NVMEs suck

the server is kind of a do-it-all for a small business environment. it hosts a mysql database, complete windows domain environment, several virtualized desktops, and 3 web servers. also a lot of media is stored on a mini-SAN that connects to and interacts with this environment. honestly...

    my NVMEs suck

would take any sort of helpful recommendation. does anyone have a current configuration with pveperf data?

    my NVMEs suck

fair enough, however i have tried over a half dozen different brands an connection styles of drives from intel to western digital (some of them with 'enterprise') ratings. i have yet to break 2000 fsyncs in FIO or pveperf. if you could recommend a product in 4x sata config OR 2x NVME config...

    my NVMEs suck

i have recently installed a pair of NVME 970 pro 512gb drives in a zfs mirror because i was unhappy with the performance of my SATA SSD drives. the NVME drives seem to be SLOWER than the SATA SSD drives and none of my config changes have made any difference. NVME drives root@serverminion:/#...

    more samsung ssd woes

would it be worth reloading proxmox onto the optane and setting up a 32gb partition for SLOG and JUST hosting VMs off the SSD zfs mirror?

    more samsung ssd woes

actually based on IOPS i am looking at going with the 58gb. it is substantially faster for not much more coin.

    more samsung ssd woes

mostly data storage but there is 2 web portals hosted and 1 shared mysql database. and the typical DC and windows VMs for virtual desktops. only about 5 of those though. and i push backups regularly so for the main VM store i am more interested in performance, it is on a zfs mirror just as a...

    more samsung ssd woes

if i added an nvme zill what type of increase in fsync do you think i would be getting?

    more samsung ssd woes

i will try that today. i have a small old raid 5 array in my old server that gets 3300 fsyncs. i figured a pair of ssd even zfs would be way faster. guess i should have done my math instead of just assuming.

    Virtuals in LVM ata errors

no never caused a switch to read only in the guest. The issue would slowly degrade the guest filesystem until the guest would no longer boot. i was curious rather adding ceph or even ZFS would be a solution. however i felt it was adding unnecessary layers so i never looked into them as a...

    Virtuals in LVM ata errors

so i finally got around to diagnosing this. however it probably does not matter to most people at this point. it IS still possible to generate the issue even on up to date 4.4. so here is the what and why. as stated above ATA errors (not awaays even the same ATA error) are generated in VM's...

    Virtuals in LVM ata errors

i only tested with direct LVM to proxmox. however i THOROUGHLY tested LVM to proxmox and tried changing everything from the type of disk the VM saw, to the physical hard drives that the LVM sat on. and while some things seemed to help, the problem was always there. the weird part is if the LVM...
