when it is a synced one, It would lost quorum and it gets read-only + split-brain. Not an issue when using a-sync storage like ZFS.
Or do I forget about a missing puzzle piece?
The goal is a HA solution with sync storage so that, for example, no mails are lost that arrive exactly in the...
Hey, thanks for the replies...
... these are rented servers in the Data Center. Therefore, buying additional dedicated hardware is not possible.
Based on all the answers ... how about this solution:
Two 1Gbit switches (probably very default, nothing with extra bonding etc...) ... one for...
I’ll take a look at RAIDZ Levels again.
CEPH with 3 nodes? I’ve reading many many times that ceph will be a very bad choice at a three node cluster, because it want to scale. And needs at least 10Gbit NICs. Do you think different? Why?
When I connect them like that, I should get an Uplink at least for two nodes every time? Not?
* PVE1 -> PVE2
* PVE1 -> PVE3
* PVE2 -> PVE3
* PVE1 goes down:
* PVE1 -> PVE2 -> down
* PVE1 -> PVE3 -> down
* PVE2 -> PVE3 -> up
==> Cluster is up with 2 nodes and link between them.
* PVE2...
Hey everyone,
after reading a lot and coming to the conclusion... Running a 2 node cluster productively with replicated storage (sync) is not feasible.
I have the possibility to build a hardware setup with 3 nodes as follows, whereby these are really the *maximum* possible hardware capacities...
unfortunately it's like so often... I don't have the resources to set up a testlab in advance... and one of the two servers is productive... so only the prod environment remains here ;D ... I know... not ideal... but that's why I wanted to inform myself beforehand, before the whole thing...
Yea, I know that this is a little tricky, when the QDev get lost. Within the described case, I just want to make sure that the cluster won't break, in case the WAN interfaces are getting too busy. So you would say that the uneven node count within the corosync.conf won't be a problem to get...
Hey, thanks for the reply.
I don't think I have an issue with latency out-of-the-box. All servers (Node1,2 and QDev) are within the range of 1-4ms (over WireGuard).
Here is a better explanation of my scribbled corosync config idea:

secauth: on

Hello together,
I'd like to build a PVE HA Cluster out of 2 PVE Nodes and 1 QDev to get quorum.
In order to get a nice and stable Corosync Link, I've a dedicated 1G NIC via Crossover LAN between the 2 PVE nodes.
The QDev VM is a external hosted system and can't be connected via LAN.
The Plan...
Re: Proxmox - Backup doesn't work - Samba Share (... query-backup failed - got timeou
Hello,
now i've create a new VM for testing with 950GB HDD (VMDK) and VIRTIO. I've not start the VM. Just take a backup. (I wondering about the long backuptime. Proxmox Backup the complete 950GB HDD but the...
Re: Proxmox - Backup doesn't work - Samba Share (... query-backup failed - got timeou
Hey,
i've tested the restore process with a local backup and get the same ERROR:

Re: Proxmox - Backup doesn't work - Samba Share (... query-backup failed - got timeou
Hello,
i've installed the pve-kernel and update the System.
And now i've patched my NAS and so i have a NFS Server. I've connect the NFS Share to Proxmox and Backups run without errors.
But i still have the...
Re: Proxmox - Backup doesn't work - Samba Share (... query-backup failed - got timeou
Hmm... i don't want to use other environments. My problem is, that my NAS can only samba and i've not the money to buy a new one.
I think there must be a solution for this problem?! (I don't think i'm the only...
Re: Proxmox - Backup doesn't work - Samba Share (... query-backup failed - got timeou
Yes, because rahman had say that i can use the default debian kernel, if i don't use openvz. And with this kernel, Backup to smb share is running.
Is it better to use the pvetest-kernel? The system need to...
Re: Proxmox - Backup doesn't work - Samba Share (... query-backup failed - got timeou
So,
now the Backup is running. (156GB / ca. 2,5h). Thats okay. But now i've a new problem. :/ I can't restore the Image because i get the following error after 2 - 3 sec :
TASK ERROR: command 'lzop -d -c...
Re: Proxmox - Backup doesn't work - Samba Share (... query-backup failed - got timeou
Hey,
thank you very much. I'm sorry, but can you explain me how i can change the kernel without problems? Can i do this remotely, so when i've changed the kernel it boots automatic the right one? (During...
Re: Proxmox - Backup doesn't work - Samba Share (... query-backup failed - got timeou
Yes, backups to local storage finished without problems.
I can't use the default debian kernel, because i need openvz.
Is there any other chance?
Thanks for the answers.
