scripted update from 2.3 to 3.0 ended with latest 3.1 ?

The "current" .vma format was introduced in 2.3 so I guess you just need to have them in that format. see https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/VMA You could also create a VM on your 2.3 running the 5.x, and check if they are still compatible and all (just restore them and maybe run them off network or...

scripted update from 2.3 to 3.0 ended with latest 3.1 ?

Hi, it could even work, but since now latest is 5.x (!) there could well be the chance that something can go wrong, or be painful in the full path 2.x > 3.x > 4.x > 5.x : too many things have changed, and you 2.x hardware could be quite old, and may lack support for something in the newest...

Migrating from RAW LVM to qcow2

Hi, if your storage is a "shared storage", available to all cluster servers, you can "live" move the VM to the other server, without stopping it or have clients to disconnect. this usually works with any kind of shared storage, including LVM raw devices. Ie: you don't need the intermediate qcow2...

Hi PVE team, thanks for this new version! I'll just point out that your download page title still cites 4.1 ISO version.... (see attached screenshot) Marco

Fresh Proxmox Install, no web interface

Yes, I've read, but I use an older version. And, what if I was a non user, and I wish to get info about, learn or compare pve to alternatives? The main site only points to the wiki, which points you for "reference docs" to another place... Yes, but it's a recent change: less than one month...

Fresh Proxmox Install, no web interface

I don't particularly like the style of your posts, but this doesn't really count at all to me, and for sure I have to agree with some of your points, and in particular with this, somehow. Not tragic, but geez... I am used to better docs. I feel like documentation once was better, easier, now it...

Fresh Proxmox Install, no web interface

Maybe... you just are missing that proxmox use its own web interface (called pveproxy), not a standard web server? Older version were based on apache2 http server, but not anymore. Really, there is a web interface... it runs on https://<host ip address>:8006/ and is usually accessible from other...

    Proxmox VE 4.3 released!

I do not completely agree with him, but I can understand how @reetp feels, and I would have given up earlier... and just to add to my post a real example, here is a nice thing to see in a support forum... https://discussions.vtiger.com/index.php?p=/discussion/182220/7-0-wishlist Of course you...

    Proxmox VE 4.3 released!

...I feel some sarcasm in this answer, isn't it? But... there was a place where it was announced this change and suggestions asked, before this release, where? I missed it, too. This "featured UI change" was not planned in the previous roadmap, right? ... how could come to one's mind to...

[SOLVED] where to get info about the qm command line options?

Mmm I didn't notice that some wiki content was moved elsewhere, I didn't notice this change announced on forums, but I could have missed it... it may also be good, but at least I would redirect or leave a comment and a link... I was looking for a web (public) reference (no cli man page)...

[SOLVED] where to get info about the qm command line options?

Since wiki qm page was deleted, https://pve.proxmox.com/mediawiki/index.php?title=Special:Log&page=Manual:_qm, and http://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Command_line_tools#qm (still pointing to it) has no info about it, where can I get info about the command line qm utility? Thanks

[SOLVED] ssh access to nodes with active directory realm users?

...I think of ssh just as an "access method", like the web browser, or the local console, or else... pve is putting a lot of "magic" around a standard debian, btw, so maybe it could be possibile in some way... What I was asking was if there was a way (a simple way) to make all internal commands...

[SOLVED] ssh access to nodes with active directory realm users?

Yes, but I meant if AD users could have the same privileges on pve resources by ssh, as they have by web interface.

[SOLVED] ssh access to nodes with active directory realm users?

Hi, I have since years an active directory realm on my pve servers, and it works ok by the web interface, but can I also log with ssh using those credentials? how? I tried any user/domain form, as username but it doesn't seem to work. Looked into the wiki page, but didn't find any reference...

    user management wiki page problems

Hi, I was looking for info about user login (will create another post for that) and noted tha this page https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/User_Management seems to have its content "doubled" (probably some editing gone wrong...), I attach a screenshot of the full page... I dont' know who can...

    Backup of VM failed - backup_complete_cb -5

Hi, do you remember which kind of issue it was (host disk, vm disk) and how did you fix it? I'm eperiencing similar issues on a vm with disks over iscsi (no disk files to check with qemu-img) Marco

Hi, my 3.x cluster has since long had no problems, but last night I had two VM failing backup. I retried manually the first today, and it completed, but the other still fails. When the night job (snapshot mode) failed for 2 VM (both windows server VM, all disks over iSCSI): - the first (vmid...

I'm running a 2 node cluster since 2010... using external NAS for nfs and iscsi disk storage. No HA, single VM recovery is manual, though. Ceph on 2 nodes? see https://forum.proxmox.com/threads/ceph-with-two-nodes.19680/ Marco
