    Help needed - failed node

Thanks for the excellent support, with these instructions I've now been able to start all the critical VM's on the working node. I have been running proxmox in a small test environment for a while now and now after this I feel confident enough to replace my other virtual production environment...

    Help needed - failed node

Hi dietmar Even though I'm running this as root I get Permissin denied when trying to move those files. root@pm01:~# mv /etc/pve/nodes/pm02/qemu-server/100.conf /etc/pve/nodes/pm01/qemu-server/ mv: cannot move `/etc/pve/nodes/pm02/qemu-server/100.conf' to...

    Help needed - failed node

Thank's dietmar for the quick reply. I'll try this later today. If I later on would like to replace the pm01 node which is the first node in the cluster would that be as simple as well as simply shutting it down and install a new node with the same hostname and re-add using --force?

    Help needed - failed node

Hi After having to reboot my 2 node cluster yesterday I ran in to a problem where one of the nodes won't boot any more (pm02). It gets stuck with a kernel panic - not syncing. This has resulted in that all the VM's that was running on pm02 node are now inaccessible. So how do I start or recover...

Feature request - Download and rename from storage content view

Hi I would like to request new (probably very easy to fix to) features that I find missing in the new web UI in Proxmox 2.1. Download, Rename Simply add a Download and Rename buttons next to the upload button when you are in the contents view of your storage. Would be really nice if one could...

    OVF Import

I'm in the exact same situation. About to migrate from Citrix xenserver to proxmox. I had no problem at all booting windows VM's in xenserver with clonezilla making an image and the restore the image in a new VM in proxmox. That worked great. But as you mentioned Linux VM's in Xenserver wont...

    NFS vs ISCSI

Yes, as many vdevs as possible (mirrored) but also put in at least 3 ssd drives as well. One large for read cache and two others (mirrored) for write cache. Then, if configured right, you will have a great perfoming disk system to host VM's. The only drawback with Nexenta is that you really...

    Check before migration

In this case I have 2 nodes up and running. Both are configured to use the same NFS storage and at the time when it was set up they both could access the NFS storage. But for some reason node2 has lost connection to the NFS storage but it does not show in web ui. So when I then migrate vm from...

    NFS vs ISCSI

That is true. But depending on you environment there are pros and cons with them both. Doing snapshots in ZFS is instant. Within a second you have your backup of all VM's image files witch could be hundreds or even thousands if you want. It does not impact the proxmox hosts them selfs. Restoring...

Is it possible to apply VLAN config without reboot

How the hell could I have completely missed that? That is great. :p

    NFS vs ISCSI

Nexenta is a great system (actually ZFS is the great part) and I have used it for a couple of years now. Can be tricky to get tuned right for your workload but when you get i right it really good. But if you are going to use it for production make sure NOT to use the community edition. Regarding...

    Check before migration

I just found a serious issue that needs to be addressed ASAP. And it should be quite easy to implement as well. When migrating a VM between hosts using shared storage there really should be check/verification done by proxmox to make sure that the nodes actually can access and use the share...

Is it possible to apply VLAN config without reboot

So stupid of me not to simply try before i posted the above. It looks to be as simple as simply edit /etc/network/interfaces and add for instance auto vmbr250 iface vmbr250 inet manual bridge_ports eth0.250 bridge_stp off bridge_fd 0 Save the file and run ifup vmbr250...

Is it possible to apply VLAN config without reboot

I wonder if it is possible to apply vlan (or any network) configurations without having to reboot the nodes. Preferably without affecting any ongoing network activity at all on the node. I would really love to see a more dynamic network management in proxmox where you can create and remove vlans...

    Shared SAS Storage

Yes, it would be nice if it works. High performance storage for minor clusters at a low cost. :) In it's simplest configuration why even bother with multipathing when using reliable thick SAS cables? Connect up to eight servers to the same MD3200. Not shure if all eight can access the same luns...
