I have a 6 drive ssd (prosumer) zfs with out any zil etc
Random performance is poor I wonder i should add one of these slog zil drives etc?
I have ordered another 32 GB ram (takes it to 64gb)
the machine is an older hp 380 gen8 used for 3 virtual machines. (2 windows 1 linux)
Or anything else...
there is very little in the var tmp directory and the drive has loads of space. I dotn want to just delete the stuff thats in there but its only directorys no files

didnt get as far as that. I dont want to attempt the upgrade from 7 to 8 until this is resolved

I changed the permission setting to 777 on one folder above and it failed on another one.
I dsont want to change permissions though I assume I have a setting wrong.
There is only one user for the datastore. Does GC run as root?
