I can really recommend the Samsung PM883 (eg. 960GB) to use for Ceph and they have PLP (power loss protection).
They are enterprise grade and are still very affordable now the SSD prices are on the rise.
Cheapest new I've found for the 960GB version, €67 ex VAT...
I can really recommend the Samsung PM883 (eg. 960GB) to use for ZFS or Ceph on Proxmox.
They never let me down and they are still very affordable now the SSD prices are on the rise.

@dietmar, it is available now :) Can be a really nice start of 2024!
Maybe the Proxmox team/company can order some of these complete RISC V systems running Debian out of the box. With their spec looking really nice for a Proxmox VE system.
They ship on Jan 5th, guess arrive a week or max 2...
I wouldn't use TrueNAS without ECC memory if you want the backup to be used for restore. The risk that the backup doesn't survive is too big.
Out of curiosity, on which hardware did you want to run PBS, looking at your explained limitations? Do you have a spare server available to setup PBS...
Hi @oscaro, maybe this can help you out.
To explain what is happening an what can be done to (if needed), I will show you a host which was just reinstalled and rebooted.
The same can be seen here and the VM's are not using it, but ZFS is. None of the below increases in memory is caused by VM's...
Why not backup first the VM's to eg. a local disk with vzdump?
You can also do this to a SMB shared folder if you want.
This way you can upgrade to PVE 7.2 after that, restore the VM's and use PBS with PVE 7.2 (with the included compatiblity and capabilities).
Saves you a lot of hassle, pretty...
Managing a Proxmox cluster in the datacenter with multiple nodes and multiple drives (Ceph OSD and ZFS pools) per node, I am missing an easy way to locate the drive in the enclosure. Smart data or Ceph OSD status visualized in a simple row/column fashion.
Is is possible to add a simple...
No, unfortunately after a GC task the file is not created.
Yes, the 'backup' user is allowed to write via nfs to the nas/san.
The 'backup' user is the 1001 user as seen in the posts before.
It looks like if the file is not present, PBS won't create it.
Even if I create the .gc-status file...
There seem to be no .gc-status file in the datastore.
Only .lock and .chunks
I haven't manually adjusted anything, just installed PBS and upgraded over time.

Deduplication not correctly shown (storage in PBS is supplied via NFS).
After the garbage collect run has done it's work, it shows a deduplication factor of 11.61
But when you look the summary of the datastore, it...
In the documentation is a typo, not sure where to report, so put it here.
Just to help out to make the namespace documentation a little better.
https://pbs.proxmox.com/docs/terminology.html?highlight=namesapce
As you can see, namesapce should be namespace in that part.
Looks like mid 2022 has the first interesting server solution coming out which makes running Proxmox on Risc V an interesting option:

Any reason for 'chrony' still showing up as an 'Unknown' and 'Dead' service in v7.0.8?
Bug? Special feature or easter-egg? Or legacy that still needs to be removed?
Can I do something about it or will it be solved in a new release?
