SOLVED! I've resolved this myself. I swapped the bridge port to a spare realtek based PCI NIC and everything works perfectly. The issue was with the onboard NIC drivers being set to "forcedeth" when running proxmox, instead of the NForce Nvidia chipset drivers. The live CD I tested the...
