Windows 11 VM IO drops to 0Mbit

Most likely, yes. The two SATA drives were quite cheap (Insenso brand, if that says anything), so would likely be QLC. But would it become this slow, to the point that transfers actually stop while data is written out to the nand cells?

Windows 11 VM IO drops to 0Mbit

Are you using ZFS on drives with QLC flash memory? That can become really, really slow on sustained writes.

    Neue Server Hardware.

    To ZFS or not

...(like random sync writes) you will kill them pretty fast. Could last for years or be killed in a few weeks. Especially make sure not to buy QLC NAND SSDs or SMR HDDs in case you want to stick with consumer SSDs. Yes, that is one way to do it. You shouldn`t fill a ZFS pool too much. Usually...

External USB SSD slow transfer speeds

thats bullshit you cannot say that generally. the ssd is fast for the first 70-80gb written to it sequentially. then the speed will be slower. so dont make this nonsense. i have multiple of these 8tb disk and they are only slow in external cases. on host you get 400-500mb/s until the cache is full.

External USB SSD slow transfer speeds

You just discover the QVO serie and in general QLC memory, which writes slower than HDD, and even poor while sustrain writes...

    Proxmox increase ZFS pool

And keep in mind that you are using QLC consumer SSDs. Terrible choice for a ZFS pool. My PVE already killed multiple of those. ;) What I would do is destroying that pool, use both as LVM-Thin without raid as single disk and make sure to have proper backups (like getting a dedicated server for...

    [SOLVED] Can't install proxmox (8.2 or 7.4)

As I said I tried nomodeset, and I forgot to say but I tried both installer graphical and terminal when I was trying to install 8.2 (also tried with and without GPU card), since when I first tried I had a blackscreen after starting the installation.

    [SOLVED] Can't install proxmox (8.2 or 7.4)

...helped in other threads on this forum) or try the new non-graphical installer of PVE 8.2 (or both). Please be aware that the Crucial P3 uses QLC flash memory and might wear out quickly with Proxmox and be unusable slow when VMs write a lot. And it will definitely give problems if you use ZFS...

    I/O performance for heavy workload

So, I checked and I have two identical 1TB Crucial MX500 disks which seem to have "Micron 256Gb 64-layer 3D TLC". I am not sure how bad these are compared to other SATA models of their time, but clearly are not up-to-par currently... I think I have the following two problems: I have set up a...

Hetzner installimage proxmox + 4 diff drives

Hi, yes i ment subscription, the community 1cpu, to support proxmox with little pocket change so to speak the 2x512GB is nvme/ssd, the 8T are hdd/mechanicals (Hetzner EX62 server) I also got 2 different IPv4 that i can use in some good way

...running the same software (just less/later updates). What are the differences between the 521G and 8T? If one a SDD and the other NVMe or HDD? Is one enterprise grade with PLP and the other consumer QLC? Maybe share the make and model, if you can. It rather depends on the details for any advise.

    SATA interface or SSD defect?

Well, for that use case as long as they're not QLC based nand you'll probably be ok. :) The product brief doesn't seem to specify the nand type, which is a bit concerning. Given how dodgy WD tends to be when trying to save a buck that could mean they'll be playing fast and loose with the nand...

High CPU IO during DD testing on VMs

I get that, its marketing bs, but we talking almost 300GB cache (The 1TB SN850X writes at over 6.4GBps for almost 46 seconds, showing a cache of around 295GB.) - where we maybe would write 15GB using DD(3x1gb per VM). Either way I believe there could also be some correlation with that...

High CPU IO during DD testing on VMs

...is full it will drop to TLC-NAND performance. And then its not unusual that such an SSD can't handle more than a few hundred MB/s (or with smaller QLC-NAND SSDs not even 100 MB/s). SSDs not designed for continous writes but bursts of writes will be very fast for a very short time and then suck.

    Slow read from WinServer

When I try copying data from a second drive in the PC (HDD) to the system drive (SSD), the transfer speed is constant and around 100 MB/s (tested on a 4 GB file).

    Slow read from WinServer

Maybe the problem is on the other end (like a QLC SSD or SMR HDD)? What if you copy a file within the server or to another PC or to a RAM-drive?
