Constant writing on my proxmox main drive

Please make sure not to buy drives with QLC flash memory (search for QLC on this forum). There are threads on this forum that describe things you can do. But they are not supported, can break things and will make troubleshooting much more difficult. Maybe use KVM/QEMU directly via libvirt...

Install Proxmox as a second operating system on boot drive

Don't use one with QLC flash memory but get something with good endurance like an enterprise SSD with PLP for your VMs. Proxmox VE itself can run fine from an HDD (just make sure it is CMR and not the new SMR kind). Proxmox logs a lot which is not great for some SSDs. So if you already have an...

    Proxmox local and local-lvm speeds

...way easier (except if this unofficial pve spin requires something like this) sd cards are way slower than a cheap ssd (don't use ssd's with QLC memory - really bad performance), especially iops which are the most important metric for virtualization or containers and with a nvme ssd adapter...

    Suche M.2 SSD für System

Danke @IsThisThingOn . Wo kauft man sinnvolle Sata SSD´s?

Gerade...

    IO Delay problems

I stopped reading here and suggest your search the forum about QLC drives: https://forum.proxmox.com/search/8337402/?q=QLC&t=post&c[child_nodes]=1&c[nodes][0]=16&o=date

    Thunderbolt Support

It's the same with QLC and SMR drives: nobody buys them after searching the forum, always the other way around... Proxmox is based on Linux and you need to research support before buying any hardware. I have no personal experience with Thunderbolt/USB4, so maybe it still works for your use case...

Slow performance on VM's, IO Delay

...fine on HDD(s) as it writes a lot but does not need much read performance. For VMs, you want SSDs for the much higher IOPS. Never use drives with QLC flash memory and if you can use (enterprise) drives with PLP. Go for enterprise (SATA) SSDs with PLP if you can. The endurance and sync write...

    Bad Disk Performance

Would i bee okay for performance increace to use ssd with TLC cache? Does it need to be PLP? eg. Samsung 990 Pro

    Bad Disk Performance

Enterprise drives with PLP. You can use the same search for QLC on this forum to find lots of recommendations (which always follow after people accepts the disappointment).

    Bad Disk Performance

Then don't use the ct2000p3pssd8 or any other drive with QLC flash memory. They do get that slow (but you probably won't believe me, so use =1&c[nodes][0]=16&o=date']the search).

    Bad Disk Performance

That one uses QLC flash memory, which can become slower than an old HDD when doing sustained writes. There have been previous problems reported with it (but it might be with ZFS). I'm not sure about that old model Those are pretty old models but at least MLC (no experience at all).

ZFS rpool degraded from IO write

...Tech Tip benchmarks - they're great for gaming machines, but not focused on servers instead look for IOPS, DWPD, and MLC or TLC (the Evos have QLC which fails quickly) buy MUCH bigger than you'll need - so that you get more wear-leveling enterprise drives are more expensive (and longer)...

How to fix degraded ZFS pool

It's an (consumer) SSD that uses QLC flash memory: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multi-level_cell#Quad-level_cell Try the forum search: https://forum.proxmox.com/search/8262617/?q=QLC&t=post&c[child_nodes]=1&c[nodes][0]=16&o=date Best to use (second-hard) enterprise SSDs with PLP, which is also...

How to fix degraded ZFS pool

By QLC SSD do mean any SSD or is this a specific type of SSD? I was thinking about getting 2 250 GB SDD's for the OS in an ZFS mirror and 2 2TB ones in an ZFS mirror for LXC and VMs is there something I should be looking for or are you saying I need to stick with CSM spinning drives?
