    3.4 Memory Hotplug issue?

Where can I find a release note of its features etc? This is a 16 node production cluster so I'd have to do a fair bit of testing first.

    3.4 Memory Hotplug issue?

I am using 2.6.32, the default that proxmox installs with.

enabled UFW, allowed rules - Nothign accesable anymore

Yes that is correct. The proxmox firewall found under datacenter applies to all hosts. You can also configure it at a host level and on individual VM level. All it is is a GUI front end for IPTables. You are also able to use the guest firewall within VM's as well. On one of my large...

    [SOLVED] kvm pfsense proxmox

What virtual NIC driver are you using for pfSense? I would suggest VirtIO. I done a quick google and some people report that the Intel E1000 causes problems with inter-vm comms on the same bridge.

enabled UFW, allowed rules - Nothign accesable anymore

Proxmox / Debian itself is secured using the standard de-facto IPTables firewall which in turn can also firewall the virtual ports which the VM's create on the bridges you use. Thus allowing a single firewall on the proxmox host to serve as protection for both the host and the VM's which bridge...

    [SOLVED] kvm pfsense proxmox

What are you doing when you say the proxmox running pfsense cannot use the pfsense lan side as its gateway? Pinging it / setting the gateway? Are you sure that the proxmox firewall isnt configured for the pfsense VM and is blocking comms? Also, what virtual NIC driver are you using for...

Ho do I enable multiple NICs on Proxmox node?

You need to create a bridge for each interface you wish to connect VM's to.

enabled UFW, allowed rules - Nothign accesable anymore

Pretty sure Proxmox doesn't incorporate support for UFW. Only native IPTables which can now be done via the GUI anyway.

What CPU's do you have in the new server?

    Problems with bridging

Something like this. Its likely your new ISP uses a MAC ACL and some sort of RADIUS auth that only allows a certain mac to be presented on the WAN side.

    3.4 Memory Hotplug issue?

Hi, when trying to enable memory hotplug on a VM (Windows Server 2012 R2 with VirtoIO drivers) I get the following error when trying to start the VM. The VM starts fine without memory hotplug. The VM has 8 cores (2 sockets x 4 cores) and 42GB of memory. kvm_alloc_slot: no free slot available...

    OpenvSwitch new OVSIntPort without reboot?

Ok so a reboot is required for a simple network change. Whilst I can acomodate this, I would suggest this functionality be added in the future since making live changes to the network configuration is possible in the other commercial hypervisors such as ESXi and HyperV.

    Proxmox VE 4.0 beta1 & OpenvSwitch

The host does have an OVSIntPort I am assuming? And the correct version of OpenVSwitch has been installed from the proxmox repo?

    OpenvSwitch new OVSIntPort without reboot?

Can anyone give me an answer on this? I plan to make the change today, but will have to hold off and test myself anyway on an unused node if I can't get an answer.

    unsupported hardware

I done a quick google about that specific CPU and from what it seems, full support for it appears to only exist in later kernel versions. So... I think this is as simple as the kernel pre-dates this chip and is not aware of its exact specification. However since its an x86 processor, it is able...

    What's wrong with Proxmox ?

As others have said, you must have done something wrong that has broken your system. It doesn't update or break on its own. Maybe you tried to update specific packages of the system separately... If upgrading proxmox you should upgrade the whole system and have all the packages in line with the...

    planning new cluster

I run a 16 node proxmox environment. Each host has two Xeon x5650's + 48GB RAM and I have no trouble with dual CPU machines. More cores for me any day... more resources for VM's to share as opposed to fighting for time on the less cores but faster CPU.

Open vSwitch VLAN must be done with Managed/Smartswitch?

OpenvSwitch should be connected to a trunk port on a physical managed switch. When you set up a VM with a NIC connected to your OpenvSwitch bridge you must specifiy a VLAN tag. A trunk port on a switch expects to received tagged packets only unless you have a default VLAN set in which case, any...

    Public ip on windows guest

If you have 2 public IP's and one is assigned to a NIC on your proxmox host then you need to create a bridge onto the NIC that is connected to the public network. You can then connect your VM to this bridge and assign your other public IP to it. Tom

    [SOLVED] kvm pfsense proxmox

Hi, I use pfSense and Proxmox in development and production environments. My pfSense boxes are physical servers but I do have quite a lot of experience with it. What is your network set up exactly? I would assume you are presenting two or more virtual NIC's to the pfSense VM, one for LAN, one...
