How dire is this disk warning?

Well, I've got a cluster since I'm testing all this in production so maybe it's time to learn a little about fail over and to make sure nothing critical is on that host. I appreciate your input a lot, thank you.

How dire is this disk warning?

Hi, I was thinking that RAID5 means 3 drives minimum and one can fail without losing data. Therefore, since my RADz1 is like RAID5, I figured I still had one drive to spare so had time to replace it.

How dire is this disk warning?

I've got a 4 drive RAIDZ1 array and one of the disks is warning 'failure prediction threshold exceeded'. It's a 4hr drive to the server to replace the drive and I'm waiting on some other hardware to come in that needs to also be installed there. I already understand the consequences but not how...

    HP Agentless Management Service

That is some amazing information Marcus. Thank you so much. I'll file this away and give it a try as soon as I get some time. One thing that might be useful is knowing how to uninstall all this as well. I'm guessing others looking will find this, not read to the end and install a bunch of...

    Rejecting I/O to offline device

I should mention that after this happened, I noticed I had the os type to 2.4. I have since changed it to the 2.6 option.

    HP Agentless Management Service

All of these things I just installed seem to be related only to disk information. I'm also looking for things like knowing how much power the server is using for example. Maybe something didn't get installed right. I went back and looked at the history on my screen and noticed the following. #...

    Rejecting I/O to offline device

Hi, Hope I have all the info you are asking for. The vm config, the proxmox version I have but I'm not clear on 'what storage are the disks from'. I think you want to know if it was imported for example and it was, from ESX 6.7. # pveversion -v proxmox-ve: 7.1-1 (running kernel...

    Rejecting I/O to offline device

I have an old Centos 6.6 that I cannot mess with. It's an old phone system that can't be updated else it will break right away. Today, the phones went dead and looking at the vm, I saw 'proxmox 7 rejecting I/O to offline device' over and over. The vm would only respond to a reset and then came...

    HP Agentless Management Service

@agnon, dead on, worked just as oyu said. Thanks so much for your input on this. BTW, mine are HP G8 sl230s blades. However, on mine, I don't seem to get info. What I really wanted is to monitor things like power usage. # ssacli Smart Storage Administrator CLI 5.20.8.0 Detecting...

    HP Agentless Management Service

Hi, So, if I understand, these are the steps to take. # Add hp Public keys https://downloads.linux.hpe.com/SDR/hpPublicKey2048.pub https://downloads.linux.hpe.com/SDR/hpPublicKey2048_key1.pub https://downloads.linux.hpe.com/SDR/hpePublicKey2048_key1.pub # Add HPE repo - apt_repository...

    HP Agentless Management Service

I need to install this also but before I go through the steps, can anyone confirm that the last post before mine is the correct procedure or kind of a patchy way of doing it? I cannot find an approved method anywhere but found this thread.

Worth swapping vmware pvscsi to virtio scsi?

I should have mentioned that they are all centos-8 but I guess the question is also, is there a benefit, a speed/performance improvement worth doing this?

[SOLVED] Starting qemu guest always leads to errors

I then stopped the vm completely and even used 'stop' to make sure. I went back to the GUI, unckecked the qemu-agent enabled option, saved it then went back and set it to enabled again. Then I re-started the vm and now it's on. Strange combination of things to do I guess.

[SOLVED] Starting qemu guest always leads to errors

I installed the qemu guest on centos 8 servers that I migrated from esx to proxmox. When rebooting the system, the service seems to start or at least status shows active. However, if I stop it and try to start it, it never works and this is on every centos machine I migrated. I looked online...

Worth swapping vmware pvscsi to virtio scsi?

I imported a bunch of vms from esx and noticed all have the vmware scsi controller. I've been told this is not efficient and that I should change these to virtio but how? I'm wondering what the steps are to convert the controllers as I need these vms to be as efficient as possible of course...

Want VM to 90% of host resources

I read this; pve-docs/chapter-qm.html#qm_cpu But sometimes it takes another human for something to make sense. Rather than install mariadb on a blade, I decided to install it on proxmox to have the flexibility of virtualization. Proxmox is running on a blade that has two E5-2697v2 CPUs and...

    Import to 'local' or 'local-zfs'?

I'm not really sure what I mean since I'm just learning here :). Basically, my only introduction to ZFS over the past couple of years has been with truenas and it's all done from the GUI. I've never looked for files or had to deal with the command line other than some basic things so never...

    Import to 'local' or 'local-zfs'?

I created a cluster and imported several vms from an esx server. Then I created one vm and all went fine so I then imported some from esx. When I did that, I imported to local-zfs and can see them on the drive; /dev/zvol/rpool/data/vm-100-disk-0 /dev/rpool/data/vm-100-disk-0 However, I am...

SOLVED: Ports needed for vmware import?

Yes, for sure port 443 but since it was on the LAN when I first did imports, I wondered if maybe there were other ports being used that I just didn't see. I'll give it a try and if that's all it takes, I'll update this too. Thanks :).
