[SOLVED] HW planning CEPH 3 x OSD cluster for PVE 4.2 / PVE 5.x

hi, @El Tebe The CPUs are so powerfull and you don't have so much OSDs and nodes, that it shouldn't be a problem. It could be a problem, if you want to use also MDS for CephFS ... than maybe ... but you have to test it anyway. For 2/1: I can't say anything, but if you create a pool with...

[SOLVED] HW planning CEPH 3 x OSD cluster for PVE 4.2 / PVE 5.x

hi, I think there is only one question: do you want a Proxmox hypervisor cluster too? If so, than the only option is 3 x Ceph, 3 x Proxmox. I would not recommend to put them in one cluster of six, because if something goes realy wrong with the cluster, you have nothing. If you split them in...

[#875] kvm: how to enable "features: hidden state=on" ?

hi futiless, it works only, if you start the VM with the script. Also after every change on the VM, you have to use qm showcmd ... and change it again. cu denny

best monitoring solution for proxmox? Zabbix vs Nagios

hi, found that thread and want to give my comments too: I used for a long time Nagios (6 years), than Icinga1 (5 years) (old company) (with pnp4nagios / nagvis / Centreon / check_mk ...) and since a few month Icinga2 as private monitoring. At my new company we use Zabbix (2.2 than 2.3) as the...

Force Autologout ( Remote session (X2go) + Browser)

hi, it is a requirement from PCI, like the frontend from a firewall. The reason could, if you leave your computer and forgot to logout, anyone could do things (also accidentally) . Yes, that it is my fault ... but it is usefull in some scenaries. Is it so complicated, to bring a timeout into...

Force Autologout ( Remote session (X2go) + Browser)

hi, I have the problem, that need to explicit logout or close the tab, to close the session. If I have forgotten it, than the session is still login, after hours/days for ever. Is there way to force a logout, after X seconds when nobody clicks on the site? cu denny

[SOLVED] Subscription: Update PVE with no Internet Access

hi, because of a very restrict policy (PCI DSS), it isn't allowed to get access to the internet from the pve. Also a proxy isn't an easy thing to get it working with a PCI auditor in the background. For all repos we a have internal APT server for that. So my question is: is it possible to...

[SOLVED] Deleted cluster node still shows up in webinterface (PVE 4.1)

hi, had the same problem. Removed node disappears from the manager, but not from the webinterface. After deleting the pve/deleted-noded files, it disappears too from the webinterface. Is that a normal behavior ?

Proxmox 4.0, ZFS: Failed to boot cannot import rpool: wrong timing or something miss?

hi, since Promox 4.2 no changes. I have to do zpool import -d /dev/disc-by-id and than exit to get booting. One machine boots without problems, zraid-1, two others won't boot automatically. They have two Micron_M600 SSDs ... maybe, that is the problem.

[SOLVED] HW planning CEPH 3 x OSD cluster for PVE 4.2 / PVE 5.x

hi, we had some discussions (a lot!) about the OSD disk drives (not journal drives): Enterprise SSD (Seagate/Intel) vs. "consumer" SSD (Crucial / Samsung) Enterprise HDD (Seagate enterprise SAS/15K) vs. "consumer" disks (HGST / WD / ...) ... or a mix of all of them per OSD ( OSD with SSD pro...

[SOLVED] HW planning CEPH 3 x OSD cluster for PVE 4.2 / PVE 5.x

hi, O.K thanks for all replys. I created a new list for the components with the SuperMicro things and with 6 OSDs, instead of 3. A questions, what comes into my mind: should we use a HW-RAID1 for the CEPH journal (with two SSD)? If the the SSD gets broken, than maybe the OSD goes down, right...
