Proxmox VE 6 does not boot ubuntu cloud images with cloud-init for VM.

I can cofirm this has worked for me too (on proxmox 7.1-7) - the exact same problem with Ubuntu focal downloaded today (https://cloud-images.ubuntu.com/focal/current/)

[SOLVED] automate deployment of VMs from cloud images

Yes, thank you :) That actually boils down to: no, you cannot do it using the API. importdisk is obviously essential to it, so you have to use hacks :) I think I prefer executing the bash script over ssh with packer and see how it goes. That's useful stuff though - what you did there :)

[SOLVED] automate deployment of VMs from cloud images

Hello, Does anyone know a way of reasonably automating the deployment of an ubuntu vm starting from the cloud-image? I'm mostly referring to this part: https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Cloud-Init_Support # download the image wget...

hot plug cpu in proxmox for linux vm

So basically I should add a maximum number of cores at the very beginning and limit this through the vCPUs, if I understand correctly? This is a little bit annoying, to be honest, because I have an additional limit I have to look out for, but as long as there's no performance issue by assigning...

hot plug cpu in proxmox for linux vm

Hello, I know this has been talked about on this forum alreadyit , but I haven't been able to solve it with the provided solutions. I'm using Ubuntu 20.04 on Proxmox 6.4-13 and I'm trying to add live several cpu cores. I've added the udev rule documented here...

    [SOLVED] understanding cloud-init provisioning

Hello, Another question related to this topic: can the cloud-init configuration in the snippet be loaded independently of the cloud-init drive? I was reading the documentation for the proxmox provider of terraform...

    [SOLVED] understanding cloud-init provisioning

Thanks for the reply. I don't think cloud-init clean is enough actually to reset cloud-init. It didn't work for me, at least. You also need to remove /etc/cloud/cloud.cfg.d/subiquity-disable-cloudinit-networking.cfg and add under /etc/cloud/cloud.cfg.d a file called for example 99-pve with the...

    [SOLVED] understanding cloud-init provisioning

I've been reading various resources on the internet related to cloud-init, including the proxmox documentation on this, but I'm still finding it difficult to understand exactly how it works and how you're supposed to provision it. Basically, I would like to understand the relationship between...

[SOLVED] Host key verification failed when migrate

Do you happen to know why this might have happened after a proxmox upgrade? It looks like a rather huge bug, even if it's supposed to be relatively easy to fix.

how to allow backup files on a zfs pool?

I know this is an old thread, but I'd still want to ask if you can do incremental backups with zfs using the dir storage. As far as I know, you need to have the zfs logic also on the other side. Otherwise, you'd have to use full backups and you just reimport the files as they are.

[SOLVED] configuring nat in proxmox 6.2-6

The problem was that dhcp was activated on vmbr0 (internet-facing bridge). For some reason, Linux (I'm guessing it's not a proxmox thing, I haven't yet tested on a "plain" linux) has a problem with NAT with dhcp for some weird reason.

[SOLVED] configuring nat in proxmox 6.2-6

After 5 months I'm still none the wiser. If anyone has any relevant ideas, I'd be happy to read them. I really don't understand why the packets are not being routed. With tcpdump run on vmbr0 (internet facing interface), I can see both icmp packets going in both directions. So the problem is the...

[TUTORIAL] PVE 6.2 Private VM (NAT) network configuration setup

@tuathan Can I ask you why you're using a bridge interface inside the virtual machine and not simply the interface directly (ens18)? Secondly, I'm having a little trouble understanding how this works without the auto directive for the interface itself which faces the network. Does vmbr0 implying...

[SOLVED] lost connection with ... while receiving the STARTTLS response

[SOLVED] configuring nat in proxmox 6.2-6

Well, I can confirm that these are actually your 2 cents, given the fact that the configuration is identical to mine and you're just repeating what I had already posted, of course, with a different subnet (the second rule is wrong anyway, because you've got a dot after the IP) and the fact that...

[SOLVED] configuring nat in proxmox 6.2-6

Hello, No, ping between VMs which belong to different bridges does not work. I can only ping the gateway (10.10.111.1) from a VM under nat. On the host: root@pve1:~# arp -a ? (10.10.111.111) at 0e:f3:46:5f:bf:b1 [ether] on vmbr1 ? (192.168.111.22) at 4a:9e:c2:96:5f:eb [ether] on vmbr0 ...

[SOLVED] configuring nat in proxmox 6.2-6

Yes, I've already tried that, and it's not working. That's supposed to be needed if the proxmox firewall is activated, as far as I understand. But that's not the case, and I've already showed you. Again my network configuration: FILTER: root@pve1:~# iptables -vnL Chain INPUT (policy ACCEPT 10M...

[SOLVED] lost connection with ... while receiving the STARTTLS response
