[SOLVED] Proxmox unexpected behavior after installation

Hi I just ran into a quite similar issue today. I did a dd on the first 1 GB of the disks which made them look like they were clean but ZFS seems to store some information at the end of the disk too. So they were not… The destroy command with the ID as reference did not work – it looks like it...

Create a PROXMOX iso on Debian

Hi Tom thanks for your help!! I tried the 2 x CTRL-D and it seems as I can now access the zvols. But I still got some more questions :-) I got an IP from the DHCP server but there are no cifs-utils present to mount a share for exporting my VMs. Any idea how to work around this? And...

Create a PROXMOX iso on Debian

Hi! I just tried to boot my PVE box from the proxmox install ISO. If I select rescue mode, it looks like it is about to boot, I am seeing a black screen for a moment but then I am back at the selection If I select debug mode, the system boots but it seems as none of the zfs commands is...

Create a PROXMOX iso on Debian

I second that! I am about to set up a Proxmox server with two SSDs (enterprise grade) in ZFS RAID1 and I am concerned what I would do if something “terrible” happens to the OS. Like it won‘t boot after an update, or I accidentally messed it up while doing something stupid or things like that...

    ZFS wheres my data?

Thanks man! I was searching up and down the web for a import feature like this for proxmox but the only thing I found was this dd idea. The qm importdisk works like a charme.

    ZFS wheres my data?

Zfs list shows only one ZVOL. But why are there several devices for one ZVOL? At the moment I am testing around with the system because I would like to migrate my XenServer VMs to Proxmox. That means unfortunately I have to export them as VHD, convert them to RAW and then write them to my...

    ZFS wheres my data?

Hi, I have also noticed these part-xx ZVOLs on my system. I did neither expand the disks nor did I create snapshots. There are also some ZVOLs where there are part-2 and part-4 but no part-3. I am just curious: why does ZFS that and does it belong that way ? Cheers Michael

    Add CIFS storage to subdir

Hi ! Sounds like a good compromise. :-) Nevertheless, I have written a feature request. It's certainly not a matter of life and death, but maybe there are others who might find it useful. Thanks for your help! :-) cheers Michael

    Add CIFS storage to subdir

Hi Dominic, thanks for your reply! :) To bad – that would be a really nice feature, especially to keep the backup storages separated for different VM backup plans and retentions times. This would make it easier than creating a separate share for each storage Would it be OK to mount the...

    Add CIFS storage to subdir

Hi, I am trying to add a new cifs storage to a subdir inside an existing share. I'd like to use it for backups and maybe ISOs The share looks like this \\server.domain.local\backup\proxmoxbackup As the UI has no option for a subdir, I tried the following command: pvesm add cifs...
