at the moment, i haven't time enough to go with pve 4, but i will do it to have lastest version.
it's works with pve 3.4. So, i think it will work with pve 4.
to compare, if you have enought time, try with virtual network bridge, to see if you have same cpu use,
and / or pve 3.4 if you haven't...
i must correct my post first.
with pfsense, since 2.2.x, i use virtio. no problem.
pve 3.4. i will test pve 4 later.
always on my experience, i have, on the same node, xivo and pfsense.
no voip lack performance.
pci passthrough should be better perfomance.
I do not know enough to give an opinion.
Hello uncleiroh,
why do you need to use PCI passthrough for pfsense ?
witch proxmox version do you use ?
i have 5 pfsense in production with pve 3.4.
i use virtual network card virtio, with pfsense 2.2.6. No problem.
Like longshot say, e1000 is better.
my experience, with pfsense version <=...
ok, what I found as information, Glusterfs is slower than Ceph on I / O databases, but good speed file access.
use less memory too.
I have found nothing to use glusterfs as shared storage for HA mode.
is it possible ?
Hello Vkhera, thank you for your anwser.
I had seen glusterfs or ceph, but I was wondering if they could operate with two nodes storage only.
Ceph should also operate with two nodes storage only ?
It's seem ceph has maybie little better performance, like IO for database.
Thank you.
Hello,
I use PVE 3.4 with 3 nodes :
- 2 for drbd v8.4
- 1 "little hardware" for quorum, HA.
I'd like to go with PVE4. It is possible to have :
- 2 nodes for storage and 1 "little hardware" for HA ?
- PVE4 have DRBD9 isn't it ? but not yet stable. So,
is it possible to use ceph, or another...
i had exactly the same problem, with virtio 0.1.102.iso.
You must use lastest virtio drivers at this page, stable are too old :
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Windows_Virtio_Drivers
Or,
change hard disk for backup type to sata. It is working well for me too.
Hello,
i Actually, i use drbd 8.4.3 on proxmox 3.4.
Two nodes with drbd and a 3rd for HA.
I would like to upgrade to pve 4.
I searched the forum but I have not found an answer.
Is it possible to have two node with storage and a 3rd for HA ?
drbd9 isn't stable and ceph is less efficient in what...
I have tested with a fresh install again.
A little better : around 200 Mbits instead of 150 Mbits :-))
First install was with a restore backup, but traffic shaping reseted.
At another location, fresh install, it's good :
i have around 600 - 700 Mbits.
I will have to be on move next weeks.
I...
I running last pfsense version at this moment, v2.2.4.
I have remove the line -args "-no-hpet" and sysctl kern.timecounter.choice commande give TSC.

i have shutdown vm pfsense and add the line -args "-no-hpet" again. dmesg|grep counter give :

Hello vkhera,
thank you for this post very instructive :D
I have shutdown my VM, add the command line :
qm set 106 -args "-no-hpet"
And start, but... same result. Around 143 Mbits.
Here result of command line sysctl kern.timecounter.choice :
i will test with ACPI tomorrow to compare.
Sorry for the confusion about CPU ressource.
Here is :
I have just do test with 2 CPU socket, 4 core and CPU host type. No another VM running on this host.
Same result, 143 Mbits
Hello mmenaz,
CPU ressource is enough for that.
Motherboard have 2x Intel Xeon CPU E5310 @ 1,60 Ghz :)
I have intalled debian 8.2 with virtio :
good iperf test, 941 Mbits
Another test, I have changed LAN pfSsense bridged to intel gigabit CT desktop card :
same result.
On another location...
hello,
I know this is a big post Down Pressure, but as I have encountered the same problems, I tell myself that it could help someone.
When you delete a storage element, its volume may still mounted on /mnt.
If you:
- Delete a storage volume at proxmox web GUI
- Recreate it with the same name...
Hello everybody,
