yes, I know how and the recommendations were (at time of reading) no below 4Gbs no more than 64Gbs.
Upon that recommendation, 13Gb seemed a bit on the low side.
Yes but if the zvol is empty why wouldn't you?
Nice to know
Figured it out myself while trying different things, thanks anyway for giving the exact command.
-This is the main issue though. How to decide if it makes sense or not? (see my examples with 4 - 8 -16k)
-Also what if compression is...
So even now that PVE defaults to 16k for the Zvols, a similar use case scenario like that (4 drives (512e) / ashift=12) would result as optimum value that of 8k right?
I was searching a completely different issue while I edited the /etc/modprobe.d/zfs.conf file where I noticed that
options zfs zfs_arc_max=13476298752
My system has 128Gb or ram and though that by default zfs_arc_max tries to almost limit that ram amount (at least in older PVe versions)...
Trying to make into an example all parameter values that can have an effect on the zvol, I came up with the following example:
Even though compression is enabled I won't include it in the calculation even though I should (I don't know how though).
Also the drives are SSDs, so we just simulate...
@Dunuin we had a similar debate 2-3 years ago.
According to your sayings: (ZFS Raid 10 mirror and stripe or the opposite)
<<.....And stuff like the volblocksize of a zvol can only be set once at creation and that attribute is read-only after that. >>
So how come and there is the ability to...
Hi
Every time I configure a new Proxmox node for production environment it takes 1-2 years and each time I stuck on that volblock size value.
As of 2024 noticed it is set as 16k default. My questions are as follows:
- how come and that parameter <blocksize> isn't available to choose or...
Thank you for your interest. The way its going to show up in OS depends on how I shall assign the card to the system beforehand.
What I mean by that is the options I need to tick like multifunction, rombar...etc which state that the card has 2 ports. Its the same as gpu where you have to pass...
I probably found the problem with my second issue.
Since in the server room there are over 400 eth cables, I thought I was using the right ones for LACP mode but it turns out I didnt.
By correct cables I mean the ones terminated to the appropriate ports of the switch which has those ports...
Hi can you elaborate a little bit more about that? How you put the ports in Promisc mode?
I was under the impression that this happens automatically when you select the mode - for instance LACP 802.3ad.
At least that is what I am seeing from my setup.
Thank you.
Hi
A generalize title since it contains different network cards and issues Im dealing with.
I ll start with the informative one which I need your confirmation.
I have installed in several servers the 10Gbe Mellanox Connect-x 3 pro
(X3 R740 / X2 R730 / X1 T7610) card which consists of 2...
I have a similar issue with you.
I have installed in a ubuntu 24.04 softether vpn server and configured it via soft ether server manager from a win machine. While I have a successful connection with clients, speeds are another story, I also have a softether VPN server on an old dell optiplex...
Hey, thank you for your quick response. So just by installing chrony, part of it's installation process involves removing systemd-timesyncd
(The following packages will be REMOVED: systemd-timesyncd) ?
Hi
During the process of upgrading to proxmox 8 and running the script pve7to8, I got the result of the test script:
INFO: Checking for supported & active NTP service..
WARN: systemd-timesyncd is not the best choice for time-keeping on servers, due to only applying updates on boot.
While not...
I already know that software and tried to use it but for some reason couldnt, Also the supported list doesn t have the brand Tescom at all. Maybe there is an oem manufacturer that builds both Tescom and the other band I could use but this info is not for this site.
Anyway I don t know though...
True but I don t have any other way to communicate the host with the ups in case of occurred event s on the ups side.
i ve found then following link How do I install the Linux library libc.so.6 but I don t know the implications of a solution like that would have in the near future or possible...
