Thanks Dietmar,
I will follow your advice. However I am limited on what I can test on a production server. But moving a vm to another hardware is an option that I will explore. I will let you know if I find something meaningful...
As of now the problem seems less significant. I have asked...
Dietmar,
I understand your frustration but trust me it is even more frustrating for me when our VPS users call in to complain that their server is slow and want a solution right now...
I cannot run pveperf on this server at no load because it is a production server. However this is the...
I only run openvz and nothing else.
I just ran pveperf twice (20 secs apart) under current load and got the following:
pveperf
CPU BOGOMIPS: 72537.23
REGEX/SECOND: 629323
HD SIZE: 94.49 GB (/dev/pve/root)
BUFFERED READS: 56.66 MB/sec
AVERAGE SEEK TIME: 36.72 ms...
I created a backup folder in the following path: /var/lib/vz/vzbackups
And created a storage for it.
I started backing up Openvz VPS's and some of them failed with the following error:
123: Oct 21 01:56:40 INFO: rsync warning: some files vanished before they could be transferred (code 24)...
I am also running Adaptec Raid Controller 512mb ram Raid 10
with 1.4 on Intel Nehalem 5520.
I do not have an IO load issue but I notice mysql spikes time to time and the server gets unresponsive time to time. I have installed sysstat and will check it in a few hours.
Ok Dietmar,
Do you have any particular question for me?
I posted the top and iotop output already but have not had a reaction from you. Is there anything else that I can do to help you diagnose the issue?
typo3usa,
Are you confirming that reverting to proxmox 1.2 would get me back to the version that did not have this issue or do I have to go back to 1.1?
I am surprised that the great proxmox guys are not saying much about this issue. It is really sad to have to revert back and this could...
Dietmar,
Great job on the 1.4 release.
Any idea if 1.4 fixes the performance issue addressed in this thread? It does not seem to have changed anything on my end.
Let us know.
Thanks.
I understand.. the load varies... at times it gets very high and things become very slow... sometimes even the ssh session to the host or the web interface of proxmox hangs for a few seconds...
This is so frustrating.
Well there is no mysql running on the host... but all the openvz vps on this server run mysql...
I hope this is a good hint for the proxmox guru to find out what is going on.... And I hope this will be fixed in the release of 1.4 otherwise we will have to roll back to 1.1 or 1.2.
I do not have IO issues so I am not sure that iotop will help.
Here is an extract of my iotop:
Total DISK READ: 0 B/s | Total DISK WRITE: 274.72 K/s
PID USER DISK READ DISK WRITE SWAPIN IO> COMMAND
6397 99 0 B/s...
I tried iotop but it says command not found. I have been receiving complains about our VPS running slow at time for the past two weeks.
Time to time I get load spikes of more than 25.
If the release of 1.4 this week does not fix this I will have to roll back to proxmox 1.1.
Anyone knows how...
