Here are a few post about the Z-Drive R4.
By the way I have a brand new unit that I no longer need in case you are interested.

I think you should elaborate first a bit on what architecture you want.
Is it a multi-server accessing the shared storage or a powerful single server access that storage?
What do you want to achieve (what are the technical app requirements)?
Good point, as long as what is bought expensively can deliver. I find that the old expensive hardware sometimes have not caught up with the little high performing pieces of hardware today.
I'd recommend benchmarking both if at all possible then decide.
A small example of new technology but...
I have a an enterprise Z-drive R4 600 GB super fast pci ssd storage at up to 2GB/s max read/write for sale since it doesn't have a driver for debian (only windows and centos) and i don't use KVM/windows.
So if you need a super fast storage, maybe you can get it off my hands.
Here are the...
Depending on what you want to do, have you considered a chassis with 36 - 44 hard drives and mounting a couple of high performance raid cards such as the LSI megaraid 1GB cache?
if you want 20TB of disk space then with 600GB 15k rpm drive you would need 34 drives. So a 36 bay chassis should...
I just talked to LSI support and they confirmed that there is no version of their storage manager for Debian. Only for RedHat/CentOS.
Tough call now whether I should use Proxmox or CentOS. Maybe I should just use their command line interface so i can stick with proxmox.
this seems to answer my question. It is clear now that you have that driver built-in and that I probably don't need to re-install it.
Now what about the Megaraid Storage Manager? I noticed that the instructions to install the Adaptec storage agent is great. What about instructions on how to...
Hi Tom,
I am using the MegaRAID SAS 9265-8i and correct me if I am wrong but my understanding is that Proxmox compiles a generic driver that could work with this?
My concern is whether the driver that comes with proxmox is optimized to take advantage of the power of this card or does it NOT...
Anyone knows how one can install the LSI MEGARAID SAS driver at boot on Proxmox 1.9?
What would be the equivalent of the "linux dd" command on proxmox for installing via drivers disquette?
I use ksar to graph performance history from the sar -A command. However when I tried today to use ksar to to graph the data from the proxmox server, it did not work.
Can you please advice why ksar is not able to graph the data exported from sar on proxmox while it works fine on centos?
I...
This is not the right test for evaluating Disk IO and bandwidth.
However when I tested the build-linux-kernel with the system running on CentoOS, I got Average: 116.19 Seconds
After installing the fastpath hardware key I get the following:
similar buffered reads, more fsyncs.
promoxlsi:~# pveperf;pveperf;pveperf
CPU BOGOMIPS: 128289.45
REGEX/SECOND: 976009
HD SIZE: 94.49 GB (/dev/mapper/pve-root)
BUFFERED READS: 626.28 MB/sec
AVERAGE SEEK TIME...
I just received and installed my new LSI 9265-8i card with 4 Vertex 3 Max IOPS in RAID0. Here are the first pveperf and hdparm with basic config.
Without any optimization we already get better FSYNCS.
I will later install the fast path for ssd optimization and report back.
promoxlsi:~# pveperf...
Having a similar issue as reported here.
1. Could you please post the results of the preperf command?
Pveperf
2. What is your server specs?
3. I just ordered the LSI 9265-8i to compare.
What is the linux equivalent of pveperf?
I assume that there is a number of packages and commands that can be run to get the data that pve perf get?
I am particularly interested in the syncs number.
Please advise.
Thanks.
While i am still trying to troubleshoot the performance issue of my 6805, I can report a slight improvement of performance from about 550MB/s to about 650MB/s after enabling the "Background consistency check" on the Raid controller from the Storage Manager Interview. Here is my new pveperf...
I figured out the issue with the adapter card.
My adapter was not booting because I had two cards plugged into my pci ports, the adapter and the z-drive and the system would only boot on or the other, most often the z-drive.
After changing the following settings in the BIOS, the card now...
