IO at 100% in VM, Host is at ~10-20%

Hi, we are having an IO Problem with (at least) one of our PVE hosts. The host has only one VM running which has 2 Drives: One of the drives is /, the other one is a 10TB data mount. The VM has a high IO utilisation: But the Host does not: as all the writes in the VM are going to the 10T HDD...

    Proxmox VE 5.2 released!

    Great, thanks for the upgrade!

    Big proxmox installations

The costs depend on what deal you get with PVE and the other vendors. Even a small company might be able to get a 50% discount, so it's best you do the math yourself. I can't say much about big installations though.

    Proxmox and non-enterprise SSDs

On the other hand: PVE will write a lot of data even in a homelab and may kill your SSD faster. This is still true. Using a HDD for the PVE installation and consumer SSDs as Datastores is my "solution" to that... minor inconvinence.

    Replication / Sync

ZFS ZSync. LG Jonas

How to use all CPU power for VM

You could also give the SQL Server 26-30 Cores and not take away from other VMs. CPU can be overprovisioned and if your other VMs don't have a high utilisation.

    SOHO Systemanforderungen: Storage

LG Jonas

Please update zfs package for 0.7.7 asap

Don't do "apt upgrade" on PVE. Use apt dist-upgrade instead. Regards, Jonas

Poor Performance, arround 100CTs per Clusternode

What does "top" say when you have the performance issues?

Poor Performance, arround 100CTs per Clusternode

Whats the CPU and RAM utilisation? How many cores do you give each CT? Whats the network utilisation? Storage I/O? Connection to the CEPH cluster? Do they all talk to the same DB? So many questions, so little answers.

LG Jonas

    Proxmox VE Ceph Benchmark 2018/02

Hi, interesting, thanks for posting. Do you have 40GBit/s NICs as well? Were your interfaces bonded? I guess a lot of people would be interessted in LAGs with 2-4 GBit NICs. I would be interessted in a benchmark with 8 OSDs (or even more). Thanks, Jonas

    LXC Container --> usb passthrough

LG Jonas
