Also try to get yourself a SSD and add it as a cache to your pool. it will perform a lot better and ZFS likes to use a lot of RAM so remember to limit its use in sysctl or you will be left with less ram to run your VM
I would recommend a ZFS RAID10 with the 500G SSD as a L2arc cache
ZFS RAID is better that mdadam anyday
ZFS Likes RAM and uses that to cache too so make sure you either buy more ram or limit the ram that zfs can use using sysctl.conf

a if we have staggered failures, like one node is down. and while trying to remove the failed node, there is a loose contact and 2 more nodes have power issue or some such thing. which means that we have 3 nodes down now. Would we survive this with a EC43 or EC44...
Hi,
I have 2 SSD per node. and I have 6 Nodes. which makes its 12 SSD
now what will give me a good capacity and resilience against failures.
I am confused between choosing -
EC21 --- i.e K=2, M=1 - 66% Capacity
EC42 --- i.e K=4, M=2 - 66% Capacity
EC32 --- i.e K=3, M=2 - 60%...
Looks like you have fake raid. better if you can configure that to a HBA - (IT Mode) and expose your disks directly to proxmox and use zfs - raidz to do a RAID 5
trust me its better than hardware raid
Hi Guys,
I have managed to make a EC Pool and use CephFS instead of RBD.
The idea is to mount a directory inside of the cephFS and to make this directory as shared (as its on cephfs)
This works and we can make qcow2 images on top of this. so you basically get the benefits of a EC Pool and...
I suggest you take a full backup of the server using windows server backup or Easus Todo Backup. on another VM by creating a share and pointing this server's backup on to that (\\ipaddress\sharename). this way you can make a new vm and re-install easus todo backup and restore the backup from...
Hi,
Suppose I have more than 1 NIC Card in a VM, like separate Virtual NIC for LAN, WAN, Backup etc...

b. If only one graph is possible for Network card, How do I select which card to use for the graph?
Basically I want to see only the...
We have installed nginx on Proxmox as a reverse proxy as per wiki. However even with nginx installed we are unable to get the OCSP stapling working.
Here are the contents from the proxmox.conf file...
Hi Fabian,
It would be the size of data used and not refrenced in the snapshot. the way to pull this info will depend on the type of the backing storage being used.
for eg if we use a ZFS based storage we would give the command
root@vm-host01:~# zfs list -t snapshot | grep vm-134 | grep G...
Dear Fabian,
I did not understand!
How would every storage count this differently. - if 2 GB Space is consumed by a snapshot then its going to be 2GB regardless of the storage type. I dont quite get it.
Hi,
Wanted to know how we could get the size of a snapshot of a perticular VM using the API
we want to be able to show the list of snapshots and their sizes occupied on the disk in a custom dashboard that we want to create.
Thanks
Bandwith is usually measured in Kbps / Mbps vs MBps
Why not give an option to do this as data transfer is measured in bytes and bandwidth is measured in bits
Hi,
My developer says that the disk utilization is broken and returns 0 for KVM
anybody who can throw light so that we can get this working ?
Regards
Arpan
Even we are facing this issue with a few VM running Server 2016. I thought it might be a windows issue, but since we have company, now I am sure its a driver issue.
