Hi,
@fabian, let's make it clear.
I'm not confusing things. What I'm doing is making clear that we have more than one point to be addressed.
Live migration with local disk is possible if you pass the correct parameter.

Hi,
@Fabian live migration with local disks is possible using command line. I tested it and it always work.
One just need to pass "with-local-disks" parameter.
Please test and tell me what you get just to make clear it is not a problem in my lab environment.

Ricardo Jorge
Hi,
Fabian, thank you for your reply but my point here is, if everybody knows what to do why not put this in the GUI ?
It is not intuitive to start a command form the GUI and receive an error message telling you to go to the command line !
Beside that replication is part of migration.
It is...
Hi,
I did some more tests using command line and it works well until I replicate the VM to the other nodes.
Now I'm receiving the message :
=======================================
root@pve-t03:~# qm migrate 200 pve-t02 --online --with-local-disks
2019-06-24 14:03:45 starting migration of VM...
Hi,
Well, if the command showed above solves the live migration issue why not is included in GUI ?
Another option is to present a user with a dialog box asking if he / she wants to execute live migration with this option included.
I get confused as the live migration is presented in the GUI...
Hi,
I'm testing live migration function in my LAB and I can not succeed if VM is "live".
Migration only owrks if VM is powered off.
This is a really smal VM ( Tiny Linux ) with 2 GB disk and 512 MB RAM
There is always an error message :

Hi,
I was testing version 5.4 on a test node running 5.2
During the installation process there were no errors but when I rebooted PVE can not start due a ZFS pool ID error message.
I went to the installation process twice but it only succeed when I boot with another Debian DVD and remove all...
Hi,
As I said "BTRFS is still on the Proxmox roadmap."
If Proxmox guys see no value in BTRFS, they can change their roadmap.
It is up to them !
Talking about license :

Now about spreading nonsense and FUD that is why I revisited...
Hi,
I'm not a of BTRFS fan boy and I hope all comments here do the same regarding ZFS ! ;)
BTRFS is still on the Proxmox roadmap.
Maybe it's a mistake or a strategy for the future. Who knows ?

Hi,
As I said one can install BTRFS by hand but have no support and the main reason in my opinion is the bad reputation because people still write "I have problems so many years ago when running BTRFS".
If BTRFS is so bad why SuSE is using it ?
Why a NAS manufacturer is selling boxes with it...
HI,
I can't say that "different guys" is the only answer but different number of VMs as well as different VM OSes.
In my case with 18 Windows 10 workstations ( VDI ) running on "desktop class" hardware with 64 GB of RAM is a performance nightmare with ZFS.
Now talking about "choose" something...
Hi guys,
Some messages about BTRFS are outdated like 5 years or so ( experiences someone had in the past ).
I'm running 3 Open Media Vault and one Proxmox 5.4 ( Lab environment ) with BTRFS and I see no problems ( untill now ).
I decided to give BTRFS a try after a lot of Internet searches...
Hi,
I see on another Forum message that this error message is just "cosmetic"
Well here it was not as I have swap errors

Hi,
I was restoring some containers and during the process there are strange characters like :
Restoring VM has no such characters.

Hi,
I just installed PVE 5.4 in a single ( /dev/sda ) HD as I'm using BtrFS on the other 2 HD ( /dev/sdb and /dev/sdc ) for my LAB environment.
I selected ext4 from installation Menu.
As so, PVE installation created a LVM volume in this single drive
When I boot there is a message at very...
Hi,
I was talking to Antenore Gatta remmina's ( https://remmina.org/ ) developer and he told me he is evaluating some modifications that in future let remmina be used the same way we do for remote-viewer ( using a script to pass authentication ) to connect to Proxmox.
This way we're going to...
Hi Mira,
I see you focusing too much on my lab hardware
The same ratio for container X VM backup time happen in a much more "powerful" hardware
It is a Ryzen 7 2700 with 64 GB RAM and faster SATA disks PVE 5.2 and ZFS
A container backup with 325 MBytes took 10 minutes
A VM backup with 6.91...
Hi Mira,
Here are the informations you asked me.
As you can see the time difference with and without NAS ( network ) is minimum.
The only really big difference I see for container backup was changing the filesystem from ZFS to BtrFS.
PVE 5.3 is running ZFS and PVE 5.4 is running BtrFS.
That...
