Well be sure to report back on your results. If the change to Deadline is a problem, the devs won't know that until people start speaking up.
For me, the change back to cfq boosted disk performance quite noticeably. I never did get around to putting hard numbers behind it. But under deadline...
So in this case, you'd want it to look like this,
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet elevator=cfq"
And I believe there is a command to get Grub to pick up the change, but I do not recall what that command is. After that, you should be able to reboot, login, and cat...
The ... is just a place holder for any other options that may already be specified there. Usually the line is blank. So when you're done modifying the file, your line should look like this,
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="elevator=cfq"
Not sure here. Are you asking if you can make the change through the Proxmox GUI? If so, yes you can. Just click the VM, click the Hardware tab, then double click the Processors entry. You'll have to shut down your VM for the change to take effect.
Well, I also think this is a terrible idea, but since everyone else has posted about how it's a terrible idea and you still seem to be okay with it, let's talk about getting it working.
Without using LVM, you lose the ability to do live migration, and live backups. If you don't care about...
Hey all,
I have been using a Proxmox based VM running pfSense as the firewall/router for my home network. Then Comcrap had an outtage, and my modem was searching for signal for an hour or so. When it got signal again, my VM couldn't get an IP address. Not only could it not get a real world IP...
I have used Clonezilla to migrate a number of machines. I haven't run in to any Proxmox specific issues. Just the normal "will Windows boot after this" crapshoot. Lots of good information on the Proxmox Migration wiki page to help with that.
Ah, I get it. Machine 1 could possibly be dead, we could either waste time determining this for certain, or just kill it and get the VMs running elsewhere right away. Since we care about up time, killing it on the first sign of it being unresponsive is the way to go. Cool, that makes sense...
Huh. I guess I didn't know that fencing was supposed to manage the virtual machines inside of Proxmox. I thought it existed to detect whether a server in the cluster went down, and then notify the remaining servers that one had gone down so that they could pick up the VMs that server was...
Hey everyone. I've been browsing the docs for setting up a clustered environment with HA and I had a few questions. First off, I think it's absolutely awesome how easy it is to set up a cluster. It took longer to create a Windows VM to test live migration than it did to create the cluster.
The...
Another quick iSCSI question. Can an iSCSI target be used for backups? I'm not seeing the option for that. When I connect my iSCSI target and LVM, there doesn't seem to be a way to change the content type to anything except Images. I am currently using ProxMox 2.1.
Excellent, that's what I was hoping for. So, how does one use the 1.9 model? Currently the only way my Proxmox install uses iSCSI is the way I described. The only option I can see that could possibly change it is the "Use LUNs directly" checkbox. Which I have tried checked and unchecked with the...
Hey folks, I've been doing some quick searches here but I'm not finding an easy answer to my question.
I've installed Proxmox 2.0 to a system and I'd like to have my VM storage be an iSCSI target. With ESXi and with Proxmox 1.9, I can just have a single, large iSCSI LUN, and create multiple VMs...
